Blazin' Barts

Wasatch Back 2010 has come and gone. Even though it's weird eating, weird/minimal sleeping, and crazy running I LOVE it! I'm actually a little sad it's over for the year.

Robyn called clear back in the fall to see if I wanted to run on a team with Joe's family. I had no intention of putting a team together this year but still wanted to run so I said yes immediately. Even though it was Brian, me, and the in laws it was so much fun. I really did love it.

most of the team (minus Brian) at the start line

van 2 spent the morning relaxing and eating at Brian's house

before it was our turn to run. right before my 1st leg. van 1 was happy to be done

thanks Marci for decorating our van

my last exchange after a 6 mile gradual climb. this night exchange was amazing.

we did a lot of sitting and waiting when it wasn't our turn and saw some beautiful scenery.

the whole team at the finish

This was my 3rd year being runner 8. It just gets better every year. I know what to expect, and it really helps me. I ran better, stronger, and faster this year and was actually pretty ok with my running. It seems crazy to think about doing it again, but I really hope someone has an extra spot on their team next year.

SOCCER

I've been wanting to go to a REAL Salt Lake game forever, but it never seems to happen. It finally happened this weekend. I went with Laurann to the game. The team didn't play so well, but it was still a lot of fun.

Princess

Someone once teased me about being a princess. I'm not sure I meet the criteria...

1. I run races...lots of races, and I'm running another Wasatch Back this weekend. Anyone who can spend basically 2 days in a van and run 3 times over the course of 24-30 hours with minimal sleep and food is clearly not a princess.

2. i own power tools. no comment about how much i have used them so far.

3. this is my hand after putting the chain back on my bike. a princess would never have hands that look like this. it might be possible that my fake nails cancel out putting my own bike chain back on but not the greasy hands.

4. i put together this shelf all by myself. so what if it only required a few nuts and bolts and a screwdriver. it went so well i even bought some IKEA furniture. don't ask me if it's put together yet.

so...maybe i sleep in big diamond earrings the night before a race and wear heels to the grocery store, but does that really make me a princess?!?! i think i gave up that title a few summers ago to become outdoor girl .

Bounce House

My friends had so much fun at the bounce house a few months ago so we decided to go again. Unfortunately my camera battery died at the beginning of the night, but we all had lots of fun acting like kids.

Baby Karson

Welcome Karson Michael Vocana!
7 lbs 3 oz
19.5 inches
He had a few problems and had to go to the NICU. He is doing really well but has to spend a little more time there to finish the antibiotics. I got to Vegas last night and was so excited to go see him. He is so little and cute and looks a lot like Karlee. We can't wait for him to get home. In the meantime I get to spend lots of time with Karlee. Congratulations Vocana family!

NICU visitors have to wear gowns and kids have to wear masks. I think Karlee looks so cute.

St. George

We had so much fun on our St. George trip last year that Carrie decided to plan another one this year. Our planned trip happened to be the day after I got back from the wedding and right in the middle of when we were supposed to move, but those are just minor details. We loaded up the Martin family van and headed down for the weekend. We hiked around in Snow Canyon, watched the Ironman competition, played tennis, ate, and relaxed. It was a great weekend. For some reason the camera only came out on the hike so that's all the pictures we've got.

Unblogged Bloggables

I have somehow gotten way behind on blogging. So many blog worthy things have happened over the past few months.

Card Night/Craft Day

We started getting together to make cards at Gaby's house many years ago. The group has changed over the years but the fun has not. The last time we made cards Kimber was on maternity leave. Her baby is 2 1/2. Card making was way overdue.
Kimber, Breanna, and I took most of the day off work to craft all day. Just for the day I fulfilled my dream of being a stay at home crafter. It was so much fun. We made cute baby wipe cases and lots and lots of flowers. I can't even wait to craft again soon.
Jerry's Goodbye

We entertain ourselves at work by doing funny things especially when people quit. We gave Jerry a proper goodbye complete with some gifts including a giant homemade card.

Race for the Cure
Everyone knows I LOVE the Race for the Cure. It is my favorite race ever. This year it was a crazy day. I was only there long enough to run the 5K, but I still loved every minute of it. If anyone is thinking of getting into running or wants to do the best race ever, join me at the Gateway next May.

Monthly Lunch

Monthly lunch continues at various restaurants. A few months ago we went to the Harley Davidson cafe. We've also been to JCW, Jerk Shack, and Paradise Bakery. I look forward to these each month and can't believe I am missing the next 2 due to conferences.

26.2

A couple of years ago I started running with the Generation Gap running group. They all run marathons, lots of marathons. It only took a few months of running with them to be convinced that I needed to run a marathon (Top of Utah). That was almost 2 years ago. After not running a marathon last year, I decided to kick off this year's racing season with the Ogden marathon. Utah weather is so crazy, and we had tons of rain the week of the marathon. I was so nervous about the weather and what I was going to wear(probably not the thing I should have been most worried about). We could not have asked for better weather. It was the perfect day. The course is beautiful, and I loved it. 26.2 miles is kind of long, but I did it! Now I'm wondering what in the world made me think 3 marathons in one year would be a good idea.

at the finish line
Kelly came and ran the last 3 miles with me. I was so happy to see her and have some company for the last few miles.
Becca and I went together. It was great having a friend before the race especially since I didn't run into any of my other friends that were running.

Heritage West Bike Tour

Brett's work sponsored a charity bike ride out in Tooele yesterday. It was so much fun. The ride was 33 miles. We started at the top of a little canyon and ended at Brett's credit union. I forgot how much I love biking. This ride made me so excited for lots of biking this summer.

Karlee is Sleepy

Poor girl. Karlee has been thrown off her schedule lately and falls asleep when she can. I started this post while we were in Missouri. She was so tired at dinner she fell asleep trying to eat.

Park

Karlee loves the park and asks to go all the time. The weather was so rainy almost the whole time we were in Missouri. It finally stopped raining the last night so we took Karlee to the park. She loved it.

Mr. and Mrs. Knepp

Ashley and Jake are married! They have been dating for what seems like forever and have been engaged for a year. A year's worth of planning equals one amazing wedding. Get ready for lots of pictures. They were hoping for an outdoor wedding but the weather didn't cooperate. Besides the weather, it was the perfect day. Everything else went according to plan. Ashley looked amazing, and they were both so happy. The day started early with reception decorating, hair/makeup appointments, pictures, wedding, more pictures, reception-dinner/dancing. It's crazy to think my baby sister is a grown up married girl.
