Lacey’s floral baby shower

The Bodilys know how to throw a party, and I am always happy when I get to help. A late summer floral shower was perfect for Lacey's early fall baby.

The food was delicious, and the presentation was really fun.
Side story-We were setting up the night before, and nothing was working to cover the rather large island. All the tablecloth options weren't quite right. Luckily Sandy has quite the stash of table cloths, and we found a pink tablecloth that was surprisingly perfect.

The cream puff tower is always a hit and adds to the decor.

foodie Friday-cranberry orange protein balls

this is by far my new fave snack. mandi made a very similar recipe a few weeks ago which gave me the idea to add orange. you won't believe how easy it is.
the measurements are very approximate. feel free to add a little more or a little less to taste and make it the consistency you want. you can easily adjust the flavor by changing the protein powder and mix ins. you can leave out the protein powder for energy balls.
1-1 1/2 c peanut butter
1/2  c honey
mix
2 tbsp chia seed
2 tbsp flax seed
2 tbsp unsweetened coconut
1/4 c chopped walnuts
1/4 c dried cranberries
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 scoop birthday cake protein powder (or another scoop of vanilla or salted caramel)
juice and zest from one orange
mix
1 1/2-2 c oats
mix
roll into balls. place on wax or parchment paper until set up. store in refrigerator.

homemade bath bombs

i am not a huge soak in the bath person. i like the water really hot, and it's hard for the water to stay really got for very long. when i do take a bath, i want a bath bomb. it makes the bath so much better. bath bombs in the stores can get pretty pricey, they're fairly simple to make.

mix together
1 1/3 c baking soda
2/3 c cornstarch
2/3 c citric acid
2/3 c epsom salt (optional)
1/2 c coconut oil-melted
8-10 drops of essential oil (peppermint, lavendar, orange, lemon)
8-10 drops of desired color food coloring
glitter (optional)

mix dry ingredients. add coconut oil, oil, and then food coloring. mix together. shape into ball in mold. (plastic christmas ornaments from the craft store work great). sprinkle with glitter. dry on cookie sheet over night.

he or she..what will it be???

before amberly was even expecting baby #2 she started talking to me about a gender reveal party. they decided on a piñata, and I was so excited to make it for them.

i started with a pre made present piñata. it was fine, but i wanted something a little cuter.
after I stuffed the piñata to reveal the gender, i wrapped it like a present and tied a bow-very simple way to make it much cuter. if you do this make sure to cut slits to hang the piñata.

it's a girl!

piñatas are quickly becoming my fave gender reveal.

what would you do...upcycling

i love to throw things away. if i don't need it anymore, i don't want it. i am no minimalist by any means, but i hate keeping stuff i won't ever use.

working with kids has kind of turned me into a hoarder of containers. i spend a large part of my work day helping kids learn how to put things in and out. so many containers are so great for that type of play so i store and then upcycle them.

this month for what would you do we want to know...what would you upcycle?
this is one of my favorite toys and such an easy upcycling project
supplies-formula can, juice lids from juice concentrate or canning lids, stickers, exacto knife
1. remove labels from formula can
2. cut slit in the lid of the can with exacto knife
3. put stickers on juice/canning lids
so quick and so easy. kids learn to put the lids in the can. they also learn the names of the objects on the stickers. it really is one of my favorite toys.

do you like to upcycle? what are some of your favorite upcycled projects?

blue or pink...what do you think?

gender reveals are one of my favorite crafts. i was so excited when brooke wanted to do a gender reveal for her twins. double the babies equals double the fun.

brooke called me with the idea of confetti pops. she gave me all the freedom to do basically whatever i wanted. i decided on gold to keep it very neutral. this was my first time making them, and i will definitely be making them again.

supplies
push pops
gold spraypaint
tissue paper
confetti
washi tape
glue dots/double stick tape
cardstock
1. spray paint push pops gold
2. fill with confetti
3. tape tissue paper over the top
4. wrap in cardstock-use glue dots and/or double stick tape to close wrap
5. cover both ends of push pop in washi tape

and now for the reveal...

blue or pink...what do you think???
a boy and a girl-i'm so excited!
these were so fun to make. huge thanks to celsey for the crafting help and brooke for the pictures. if you want to read her post, check it out here.
