weekend happs

i was off work on thursday and friday so my weekend technically started a little earlier. i've had a few days off this month due to a change in our paid time off policy at work. as much as i wanted to spend my days relaxing, i've been busy getting ready for christmas. all my christmas cards are done. i need to order one more gift, and then i will be done shopping. i just have a ton of wrapping to do.

after working on christmas all day thursday i met tiffany and sage for dinner at tsunami. we went pretty early so luckily there was no wait. after dinner we drove around and looked at christmas lights. we tried to see the tree of life at draper park. the weather was bad and half the lights were out. we were sad, but ended up finding something else great-a house with tons of light set to music. after driving around looking at lights in the rain for a while we had dessert and called it a night.

i worked on christmas things-cards and gifts all day and night on friday. i got a lot done which made me really happy.

i got up extra early to run on saturday. i had to leave early so i tried to get a few extra miles in with the early crowd. i was totally dragging and not sad to leave. my running lately hasn't been the best. i really need to sign up for a race to get my rear in gear.

i spent most of the day at a high school drill competition. michelle coaches the layton high lancelles so we went to support her. we didn't have a drill team in high school, but i did grow up dancing. i love watching dance, and it was a fun day-besides sitting on hard bleachers all day.
i am trying to do as many christmas activities as possible. my church had a christmas program tonight. i LOVE christmas music! it was a great end to the weekend.

thanksgiving 2015

ever since i was a freshman in college (a long long time ago), i have been going to st. george for thanksgiving. it is only a few hours away and much more realistic than flying home for the holiday. my grandparents are getting older, and it's getting harder for them to host at their house. i am so glad it worked out again this year and that chelsea and her family were able to come from california.

i didn't take any pictures of the actual meal besides a few posts on snapchat. kenzie tasted some mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes.
we always walk to the park after eating. the kids enjoyed playing at the park.
don't be deceived by the sun. it was much colder this year than it is some years. thanksgiving day was the warmest of our days there.
abby, kyler, and karlee on the swings. karlee wanted to make sure she was in the picture.

after the park we had some pie and hung out for a while. we headed to the hotel and got the kids to bed. chelsea and i went to check out some pre black friday deals at target. we looked at a few things and decided we could get the things we wanted online and avoid the ridiculously long lines. the store was a complete disaster, and i really did feel so bad for all the people working.
we spent a few hours visiting with my grandparents on friday. the kids love sugar cookies from swig, but they have never actually been there. we took them to swig for some cookies and drinks.
marsha and family were in town for the week. they spent thanksgiving dinner with gale's family. we spent friday evening with them-dinner and seeing the lights at the temple. i'm glad we got to spend some time with them. i wish we didn't live so far apart.

kenzie with grandpa
cousins eating dinner. it's fun to see them getting to know each other.
we walked around the temple seeing the lights. it was freezing cold. the colorado crew had coats and gloves and appropriate clothing, and the california kids not so much.
attempting to get a better picture in the light. some of the kids weren't too cooperative/
cousins and inlaws and kids of cousins-fun to be with extended family.
chelsea and her kids with grandpa and grandma-so happy they came to st. george.
we all left early saturday afternoon to go home. it was sad to leave and say goodbye. i'm happy we all made it to celebrate the holiday weekend with extended family.

weekend happs...it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

in my opinion it's really never too early for christmas. i love christmas decorations all the time. even though i have seen them for a while now and even went to a tree lighting last weekend, this weekend it really started to feel like christmas.
i met friends for a quick dinner on friday evening. they went to see mockinjay after dinner. i read all the books, but i haven't seen any of the movies. i might be the only person on the earth that doesn't really care for them. the content is a little much for me so i skipped the movie and did some christmas shopping instead.
i run all winter long and have for years. i always tell people if you are dressed appropriately, it really isn't that cold. i thought it was warmer than it really was on saturday morning. i wasn't dressed appropriately at all, and i was so cold.
after running i went over to laurann's house for a lesson in making pies-really pie crust. i don't actually really like pie, but i feel like it's something i should know how to do. she had the dry ingredients measured in ziploc bags and the butter and shortening measured and cubed in bags too. it made the process of making 10 pie crusts so smooth. i learned everything has be to really really cold, and i also learned pre measuring and prepping ingredients before is really smart.
i met sage, tiffany, and laurann for dinner at the cheesecake factory. after dinner we went to the bell choir christmas concert. i went for the first time last year and loved it so much. they are so amazing. i have no idea how they get to be so good. they are so talented, and the music is amazing.

after the concert, we walked past the candy windows at macys. there has been a long tradition in downtown salt lake of having window displays made all of candy. the theme this year is peanuts. it was so fun to see them.

sunday I went to church with tiffany and sage for their primary program. there is something so amazing about hearing small children testify of our Savior Jesus Christ through music and talks. i loved it! i also got a few coats out of storage so i can quit being so cold all the time.

weekend happs+prize

sometimes i fill the weekends full of plans, and sometimes i don't. i planned to leave work a little early on friday, but that didn't happen. by the time i left work, ran to the store, and sat in traffic on the way home, i was ready to just be home. i had to get up super early saturday morning so i stayed home friday night and went to bed earlier than usual.

i started saturday out super early. ever since i moved at the beginning of the summer i have to get up even earlier to meet my running friends. there was a group meeting at 5:00 which is sooo early but also the schedule i needed for the day. the run was pretty hard. we climbed steady hills for the first half. i kind of didn't know if i was going to make it, but i did and it was worth it. it was a fun morning with friends even though it was very hard.

after running, i went to dinner group/brunch. we couldn't find an evening for dinner so we had brunch. we've talked about doing this a few times but never have. it was an enjoyable morning, and the time went by quickly.
we all showed up a little matchy matchy

i met tiffany and sage for a little shopping and the tree lighting at traverse mountain. we got there a little earlier than we needed to. we waited around for a while. the actual lighting was more magical than imagined. we loved it, and it makes me so excited for christmas.

speaking of christmas, i'm teaming up with a few others to give a fun prize-a $60 gift card to either amazon, target, or paypal.

weekend happs

the past couple of weeks have been insanely busy, and the weekend was no exception. celsey and i have been in full blown party prep for the past couple of weeks. we spent most of last week working on baby mavi's storybook birthday party.

i went over straight from work on friday. celsey made homemade chicken noodle soup (my fave) for dinner and we worked on the party. we got a lot done, and i left completely exhausted.

saturday morning i got up before the crack of dawn to run. i almost skipped, but i am missing the next 2 weeks. i'm so glad i didn't. we ran my favorite run. we saw a few fall leaves, but everything is still pretty green.

after running, i did a few quick errands and went to finish last minute party prep. everything was perfect, and it was the cutest party. everyone had a great time, and we were so happy with it all..and exhausted. full blog post coming soon.
after the party i went to laurann's house for a night of pumpkin, football, hot tub, and fun. it was the perfect night. we laughed our heads off. it was perfect.

sunday i went to church, took a big nap, worked on my what would you do with orange post, and painted my nails.

some weekends are more packed than others, but that usually means they're full of fun.

weekend happs

where did the weekend go? i kind of feel like it didn't even happen it flew by so fast.

i left work a little early (which is totally relative since I don't have a set schedule) to come home and pack. i drove up to ogden to pick up my race packet for my half marathon the next day. after i got my packet and some dinner i went to spend the night with ben and kate. we have been friends for over 10 years, but we don't see each other nearly as often as we would like. kate and i had the race to look forward to/freak out about the next day so we tried to get to bed at a decent time. i loved catching up with them, and i wish we still lived around the corner from each other.

i spend most of saturday getting ready for, waiting around, running, and recovering from the huntsville half marathon. i'll have a full recap later. it was a warm, sunny, beautiful day, and i'm in complete denial about the end of summer.

after the race i went to laurann's house for a relaxing afternoon, evening with laurann and michelle. we hung out, painted nails, went to dinner, tried out various lipsticks, and watched the LDS general women's meeting. i didn't feel the greatest after the race, so it was exactly what i needed.

sunday we had the primary program at church. the children present a program of songs and talks they've been working on all year. it's the sweetest most tender sunday of the whole year. i love the kids so much, and they did the best job.

i went outside 4 or 5 times last night to look at the moon. i loved it! almost every single one of my neighbors had their porch lights on. the light pollution kind of ruined things a little, but it was still really cool to see.

weekend happs

i took friday off work so my weekend started a day early. i went to the eye doctor, got my car inspected, and met bonnie for blog pictures.

lunch at pei wei with running friends
state fair after dinner at francescas.
stefanie insisted we all ride the big yellow slide
at the fair with tiffany, stefanie, sage, and brittany where we busted out the selfie stick.
i was only planning/mentally prepared to run 7-8 miles. my running plans changed mid run, and i ended up staying the whole time to run 12. i struggled pretty much the whole time. i'm running a half marathon on saturday, and i hope i have a better day. even when i'm not running well, i love being outside and starting the morning with these ladies.
tiffany's birthday was on saturday so we spent the day celebrating. we got massages, stopped at costco for a few things, swig for drinks and cubbys for lunch.

after relaxing at the house for a couple of hours we went to tsunami for dinner.
the brad paisley concert was the best end of summer concert. he's a great performer, and it was so much fun (and cold).

we ended the birthday celebrations with appetizers at buffalo wild wings. we got home completely exhausted-a sign of a great day.

i had dinner with my old roommates. am i the only one that didn't know rainbow chip is back?
