what would you do...2.0

kimberly and i are back for another round of
WHAT WOULD YOU DO...

i've been so excited about this month's theme...
WHAT WOULD YOU DO...with $20 at Target?
we all love Target right?!? spending $20 seems to happen without even knowing it. the challenge this time was to spend $20 on purpose and try to get the most with that $20.

I love the boyfriend cardigan. It is $19.99 but often is on sale. My plan was to buy a new cardi because you really can't have too many and a neon baby lips because you really can't have too many of those either. I checked everytime I went, and it was finally on sale for $15.
This isn't the boyfriend cardi. I saw this burnt orange sweater for the same price and bought it instead (which I later exchanged for a boyfriend cardi) along with the neon baby lips, a neon sharpie on clearance, and an envelope to mail a package to my niece and nephews.
we had a friendly competition to see who could get closest to $20 without going over. i have the red card (automatic 5% off) so that helped a little.
i obviously went over just a a tiny bit, but I'm pretty happy with how close I got to $20.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO with $20 at Target?
can't wait to see what kimberly did with her $20.
speaking of Target, have you entered the warm the holidays giveaway yet?

if you want to join us for next month...
WHAT WOULD YOU DO...with a box of candy canes?

Warm the Holidays

it's hard to believe the holidays are right around the corner especially since it was 60 degrees today (not that i'm complaining one little bit), but they are. i got out the christmas music, and we started hanging lights today. it feels a little more real. now i just need to get started on shopping. what better way to get started on shopping than free money. i'm teaming up with 14 other bloggers to bring a little holiday cheer.

fall 30x30...days 1-6

30 pieces of clothing for 30 days with no repeat outfits is well underway. i can't believe we are already a week in. some of the little sneaksters started early and are even more than a week in. everytime i do this challenge, i remember what i like about it (so much easier to decide what to wear/less laundry/connecting with other bloggers) and what i don't like about it (taking pictures of myself daily). mostly i really like it. here we go with days 1-6

day 1...target cardi~gap outlet t~kohls red skinnies
this street was so pretty, but the shadows are terrible.

day 2...gap outlet cardi~target v neck~gap outlet skinnies
i just finished a brutal half marathon and got to spend the rest of the weekend in warm, sunny southern utah

day 3...gap outlet cardi again (i packed much lighter than i normally would. also i only wore this for church)~old navy shirt~walmart bella bird skirt
i would never have thought to put navy with this skirt. thank you 30x30 for helping me branch out with my clothes.

day 4...target boyfriend cardi (my fave)~gap outlet dress
i bought this dress at the end of summer but figured i could easily carry it into fall. this is my favorite outfit of this week. i must have caught my leg on a chair at work because by the end of the day i had a small hole in my leggings on the back of my leg.

day 5...urban outfitters cardi~old navy chambray~target leggings
you might notice the leggings are different from my reveal post. i put those on, rushed out the door to work, discovered they had a hole (what's with holes in my leggings this week), and made an emergency trip to target. so i already had to swap out an item and broke the no shopping rule. day 5 wasn't the best, but i am happy with the new leggings.

day 6...walmart bella bird cardi~gap striped t~kohls black skinnies

this wasn't one of my outfits this week although the jacket is one of my 30 pieces. did you catch #whatguineverewore this week? find a toddler, copy and outfit, write a post, link up. fun right?!?

in case you missed the first post...

wear it wednesday {what guinevere wore 2.0}

i've been super excited for this month's edition of #whatguineverewore ever since last month. in case you need a little catch up, check out jaquelyn's intro post here. we had do much fun we decided to make it a monthly linkup. we pick a look from a toddler that we want to use as inspiration. you can use the same outfit with us or pick another toddler and join the fun.
as soon as kelly posted this on instagram, we knew immediately we just had to do this look. do you just want to die or what?

i had a little struggle with the pictures, but i think i did an ok job with this month's look.

gap camo jacket. forever 21 leggings. h&m purse.

Halloween

Halloween was a little more low key this year than some.
We had dinner group the week of Halloween this time. Without deciding ahead of time we all made halloweeny food-skeleton and pumpkin vegetable trays, pumpkin/squash muffins, dinner in a pumpkin, and candy corn cookies and pumpkin filled pastries.

I didn't go to any parties this year so I didn't spend much time on a costume. Since Halloween was on a day I teach playgroup classes, the teachers dresses up as the 3 little pigs. We kept the costumes pretty simple, and I was pretty happy we made them without spending any money. My co-workers are good to go along with my silly ideas.
co-worker Michelle dressed up as a mouse
Seeing the kids in their costumes was definitely my favorite part.

13.1...snow canyon

I took a quick trip to St. George over the weekend to run the Snow Canyon half marathon. One of the many things I love about Generation Gap (my running group) is we keep a 10-13 mile base. It doesn't mean it's easy, but it means we are always trained for a half. I wish it meant running a half was no big deal, but it's still hard.

We got a bit of a delayed start leaving town, but the amazing sky made up for it a little.

Speaking of start, I got off to a pretty bad start. I'm not sure what exactly happened, but the first 3-4 miles were killer.

Luckily I met a couple of girls and talked to them for a bit. We caught up to each other throughout the rest of the race. Having someone to talk to is always a good distraction for me.

The weather was so nice. The course is one of the prettiest. Winter is basically here so I loved one last warm weekend.

The rest of the weekend flew by and was equally beautiful.

Luckily the drive home was much faster than the drive down. I have no idea why, but we almost ran out of gas an hour from home. We made it to the gas station and laughed our heads off about what might have but fortunately didn't happen.

churchy things {doubt your doubts}

it's the first sunday of the month which means things get churchy. last month i talked about lds general conference. i spent the weekend being spiritually filled. my plan for this month was to highlight my favorite talk. i'm not sure why i thought i could pick just one. they are all good. president uchtdort gave a talk come, join with us. he made several points, but something he said really stuck out to me (and lots of other people on social media).
"doubt your doubts before you doubt your faith"
this simple statement is so powerful. how many times do we let simple doubts creep in and destroy the faith we have? how many times do we let that doubt take us to places we really don't want to be? how many times do we first doubt our faith? i love this message. no matter your faith or your beliefs, taking the time to question our doubts first will most likely strengthen rather than weaken the faith we do have. listening to this message again strengthens my resolve strengthen the faith i do have.

throwback thursday...halloween edition

everyone loves a good throwback thursday post right?!? i basically only like dressing up for halloween when it involves a group costume and costs less than $10. i've been pretty successful over the years.

i can't find the group pic anywhere, but there were 5-6 oompa loomps walking around

by far the best costume of my entire life
 sample anyone?
the dance troop included 2 males, lots of sparkle, and a choreographed dance
thankfully my co-workers go along with my ideas.

recycled flight attendant costume for youth dance. i can't find pictures from round #1.

tetris complete with music with the co-workers last year

this year has been a little crazy. the holiday totally snuck up on me. i didn't dress up for any parties or anything, but the 2 other teachers i teach with tomorrow and I have something fun in the works.

and a few non-halloweeny business items
1. are you in school? do you know someone who is? make sure to enter this giveaway
2. jacquelyn and I are just a tad obsessed with Kelly's daughter, Guinevere, and a bit ago we recreated a #whatguineverewore look from Kelly's instagram feed. Well, we're back at it again and this time we're inviting you to join us! All you have to do is recreate a toddler's look. Yup, it's that creepy. I mean, it can be your own kid but if you're like Aubrey and I and don't have any mini's then you have to borrow someone else's mini's look. Just do us a favor and get permission first, mmmk? You can also recreate the same look Aubrey and I have picked. We're sticking with Guinevere this month and will be recreating this gem. 20131001-155606.jpg
Yeah, I know. It's really too much. The linkup will be November 6 and is open all week so you have plenty of time to join! You can also grab the button and add it to your postypost. We're hoping to do this monthly and will announce ahead of time what outfit we pick! You can also follow us on Instagram to catch our conversations on #whatguineverewore.
