spring 30x30...days 25-30

i did it! i wore blue the whole month of april without repeating any outfits. even though it's such a small thing, it's something i can do to be more mindful of autism. i hope you've learned a few things this month.
instead of sharing more facts about autism, make sure to check out tuesday's post with a touching personal story about extraordinary normal moments.

day 25...gap cardi, target v, jcpenney jeggings, target flip flops
travel from missouri to nashville
day 26...shade cardi, old navy top featuring blue circles i promise, gap skinnies, target sandals
i ran a marathon in the blazing hot sun hence the color change from day 25-->day 26
day 27...target cardi, j crew top, walmart bella bird skirt, target sandals, jessica simpson wedges
my feet were in bad shape after the marathon. i ended up wearing the wedges later and they felt better than the flat sandals. jessica simpson shoes are my fave.
day 28...bella bird walmart cardi, target v, gap skinnies, target flip flops
severe weather/tornado warnings in nashville made for a low key day
day 29...old navy hoodie, old navy v, gap skinnies, target flip flops
i had to get ready at 3:30am to catch my flight home which explains everything about this.
day 30...h&m cardi and t shirt, gap jeans, toms flats

make sure to check out what everyone else wore this week.

spring 30x30...days 19-24

usually by the time this weeks comes in 30x30, it's getting a little harder to come up with outfits. since i didn't pick 30 pieces this time, it is a little easier. i am going to be excited to wear something other than blue once april is over.
autism is such an interesting disorder. diagnosing is done through developmental and psychological testing. there is no blood test or other medical test to diagnose autism although medical providers are qualified to give a diagnosis. concerns with autism are often addressed through a mental health professional. there are a few screeners that can completed by parents or other professionals. the M-CHAT is one of those screeners. more info can be found here.

day 19...i met up with a few girls for major blog talk. we failed at taking pictures, but i did have amberly take my outfit picture. her dog tried to sneak in also.
gap cardi, target v, gap boyfriend jeans, jessica simpson wedges
i see a lot of boyfriend jeans and natually thought i had to have some when gap outlet sold them for less than $20. i don't know that i love them. the fit is really weird.
huge shout out to mint arrow for posting about the jessica simpson shoes.

day 20...easter sunday
nordstrom cardi, banana republic top, walmart bella bird skirt, toms wedges
day 21
target boyfriend cardi, target boyfriend cardi, forever 21 leggings, target sandals
day 22...travel to St. Louis all day
target boyfriend cardi. target V, gap skinnies, target sandals
day 23...started the day with mom at the temple and then met curly crafty mom for lunch. so fun to finally meet in real life.
shade cardi, target cardi, walmart skirt, ross shoes
day 24...final day in st. louis
gap cardi, old navy top, gap boyfriend jeans, jessica simpson wedges

meeting carrie in real life was definitely the major highlight of the week.

spring 30x30...days 13-18

april is over halfway over which means i only have a few more days of wearing blue. besides helping to spread awareness about autism, i like doing this challenge because it reminds me every single day that autism is an everyday thing. it doesn't magically disappear and go away. with a lot of hard work, it often gets better. autism is a complex and complicated disorder. treatments are often likewise complex, complicated, and expensive.

now for my outfits and a surprise at the end

day 13...drive home from vegas trip comfortable clothes
target boyfriend cardi, target v (that has blue stripes i promise), gap jeans, target flip flops
day 14...autism awareness day at work. instead of all wearing blue like past years, each program had a color from the autism ribbon. we had yellow. unfortunately, most people didn't remember after spring break.
target boyfriend cardi, target scarf, old navy top, gap jeans, target flats
my new alex and ani autism puzzle piece bracelet
day 15...i needed to be in a dress after work but also had to sit on the floor all day. leggings are perfect.
old jacket, gap dress, forever 21 leggings
day 16...i normally wouldn't put this outift together which is why i really love clothing challenges. it really helps me shop my closet.
jane.com cardi, gap t shirt. gap jeans, target sandals

day 17... i take a lot of my pictures at work. it's just easier that way. i had a random person at work take the picture and didn't even look at it. obviously the lighting is pretty bad, and it's not quite full body. oh well right?!?
walmart bella bird cardi, forever 21 top, jcpenney jeggings, toms flats
most of my other 30x30 challenges have included a lot of bella bird. this one doesn't for some reason.
 day 18
gap cardi, bella bird top, gap jeans, target sandals

i obviously really love gap and target this week. go check out what everyone else is wearing and the surprise below.

spring 30x30...days 7-12

it's already time for week 2 of spring 30x30 or in my case bluex30. blue isn't really my favorite color so it always surprises me how much blue i actually have in my closet. before we get to what i wore for the week, here's the autism info for the week.
  • Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys
  • Autism prevalence figures are growing
  • Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
  • Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average
  • Boys are nearly five times more likely than girls to have autism
  • There is no medical detection or cure for autism

and now for my clothes...
day 7...target boyfriend cardi, random top, gap jeans
day 8...h&m cardi, shine project shirt, gap jeans, target sandals

day 9...target cardi, old navy top that really is blue i promise, gap boyfriend jeans, target sandals

day 10...gap cardi, old navy v neck, modbe skirt, ross wedges
i was home on spring break with no one to take my picture. i have a tripod and a remote, but it's such a hassle to use. i set my camera up in a glass and got mostly blooper shots. the remote is impossible.
day 11...old navy hoodie, target v neck, gap jeans, target flip flops
my friend laurann and i decided to take a last minute trip to las vegas to get a tan. we spent most of day 11 in the car.

day 12...old navy top, gap boyfriend jeans, target flip flops

go check out what my other 30x30 people wore this week.

spring 30x30...days 1-6

i can't believe we are already done with the first week of 30x30. it seriously flies by so fast. i'm posting a day early to make room for WWYD...with a dozen eggs? tomorrow.
i'm doing 30x30 a little differently this time. instead of picking 30 items for 30 days i am wearing blue for 30 days for autism awareness month. since the whole point is to spread awareness, i want to share a little about autism each week.
here are some of the common "red flags" for autism from autismspeaks.org
  • No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter
  • No back-and-forth sharing of sounds, smiles or other facial expressions by nine months
  • No babbling by 12 months
  • No back-and-forth gestures such as pointing, showing, reaching or waving by 12 months
  • No words by 16 months
  • No meaningful, two-word phrases (not including imitating or repeating) by 24 months
  • Any loss of speech, babbling or social skills at any age
if your child demonstrates these symptoms, talk to your doctor about your concerns.

thanksgiving recap

thanksgiving break went by way too fast. i spent most of the time in sunny st. george. it was such a nice getaway. i am lucky and always have wed, thurs, and fri off work. i decided to stay in town on wed to get some things done. going thursday was a smart idea.
posing with karlee for fall30x30 pictures
karson wanted his picture taken too
the table. thankfully we converted to paper plates instead of real china.

post thanksgiving meal/pre-pie tradition of going to the park. kyler loved the slide.
i'm a total sucker for matchy matchy
trying to get a picture with all the kids was a joke
met up with some friends for a run up snow canyon
we didn't make it to the lighting ceremony, but we walked over to the temple after to see the pretty lights
thanksgiving was great. i have so much to be thankful for.
