michelle and dallin gender reveal

it's been a while since i have done a gender reveal cake. birthday cakes are fun, but gender reveals are my favorite. i love the look on people's faces when they see the color of the cake.

michelle and dallin have had a long road to having a baby. when she told me she is pregnant, i was so excited! i immediately wanted to make a cake. due to a study they are part of they found out the gender earlier than usual and planned a gender reveal party for their families. i was so excited and honored to make the cake.

we decided on a simple 2 tier cake with yellow ombre frosting. it was pretty simple to make but so much fun.

i have another gender reveal coming up next month, and i can't even wait.

blogging the bach 11.9

even though i haven't been super into this season, waiting until tuesday to watch this week was killer.
who's watching..celsey and amanda
date with ben
what i saw
feeding donkeys-i have a very funny story about donkeys (think me+donkey+mud+foreign country)
what i heard
is that the sweater she was wearing earlier?--cel
what i thought
why are they talking to the horses like they are people?
ben isn't edgy enough for her.
he's got to be the next bachelor right?!?

date with shawn
what i saw
poor shawn running across the golf course sans clothing
nick standing outside waiting for shawn like a creep
what i heard
why are his pants short? is that a golf thing?--cel
she's smart. he has to tackle her naked--amanda
if he has to be naked, at least he has a good body--cel
this is so embarrassing--cel
what i thought
if boys think girls that golf are sexy, i'm in the biggest trouble
the overnight did not seem to go well. was that the edit or is that how it really went?
i have no idea why nick came back to talk more. they both basically said they hate each other earlier. do we really need to see that on replay?
hometown with nick
what i saw
utah really is beautiful. i rarely ever appreciate winter here, but this is really what it looks like,
what i heard
look at the mom. she's having a meltdown-in her statement necklace--cel
could you at least buy a new pair of converse? if you're going to wear them every single episode..--cel
he covers his mouth just like nick. they're the same person--amanda
what i thought
there is no way on earth i could do this twice. i honestly couldn't do it once, but i definitely couldn't do it twice.
hometown with shawn
what i saw
kaitlyn changed her clothes and makeup between meeting the family and talking to the sister. we're confused.
kaitlyn is a really pretty crier #lifegoals
what i heard
with ben and nick she wears big frumpy sweaters--cel
ok producers can you please tell her to fix her necklace--cel
what i thought
kaitlyn really likes shawn. i don't know what it is about nick that she likes, but there seems to be something. i still think she likes shawn more. please bless we are done seeing all the drama with those two.

wear it wednesday...confetti night

i can't believe it's been a month since confetti night (more on that later). it was a fun filled evening. the event wasn't specifically for bloggers, but i knew a lot of blogger friends would be there. picking an outfit for blogger events is more stressful than dressing for a date.

old navy dress|nordstrom cardi|shoes-ross|rocksbox necklace (use code aubreyzarubaxoxo for a free month)

i had the hardest time smiling for these photos. it was a little ridiculous and also funny. it was also 105 degrees that day so i was basically melting.

celebrating july 4

i spent the 4th of july in california with chelsea and her family. holidays are always more fun with kids.
we started the day with a small parade in their community. the kids loved it.
we went to the park in the afternoon. the kids played in the splash pad and went down the blow up slides. karlee especially had no fear.
it was blazing hot so the kids were happy to be wet. they live in a residential only area. people tend to really support the community events.
we had a barbecue with the family. i always want to do traditional things even when it's just our little family. we kept the food really simple-turkey burgers/hot dogs, corn on the cob, watermelon, and pasta salad.
my mom sent poppers so the kids did those after dinner. i should have taken a video because the boys, especially kyler, were hilarious.
we weren't exactly sure where to watch fireworks so we parked in jeff's office and watched from there. it was a little far away, but that was perfect for the kids.
we saw quite a few fireworks and easily left when it was over. the kids fell right into bed when we go home-a sign of a successful day.

how was your 4th? did you do anything exciting?

weekend happs

my weekend got off to an earlier than usual start, i took the day off on friday to attend julia and ricky's wedding.

i attended their sealing ceremony and stayed at the temple for a few hours after.
i've had snapchat for a while, but i'm so bad at it. it seems to be the new it thing so i'm trying to get a little better with it. do you have snapchat? what do you think?
after the wedding i ran some errands, got a pedicure, and hit the Nordstrom sale. i only had an hour so not a lot of time. i definitely need to go back this week.

i kind of dread grocery shopping so i avoid it. this weekend i went straight from my saturday morning run, and it was so nice to get it over with. i picked up this pineapple slicer. it's pretty much the best thing ever. i got it at walmart, but a few people told me they got one on amazon. do yourself a favor and get one immediately!
i spent the afternoon with friends at the local water park. the whole wide world was there since most everyone has season passes. i go for the sun and the friends so the crowds don't bother me.
there was a small food truck event on saturday night. it ended up being a little smaller than i expected but still fun. i ran into my former roommate krystle and found out she opened a shaved ice business this summer. she puts pop rocks in it. it maybe sounds weird, but it was amazingly good! we had a fun night catching up.
i spent Sunday doing churchy things most of the day-just how i like to spend sunday.
in the evening i got a text from a friend to come get my nose waxed. if you've never done it, you should.

the weekend flew by, and i loved every second of it. how was your weekend? any exciting happs?

foodie friday...fresh salsa

i can't go a thing to save my life, but a lot of people have much better luck than i do. i love tomato season! even though i can't figure out how to successfully grow tomatoes or anything else, i luckily tend to end up with fresh produce.
i love eating them plain, on a sandwich, in a salad, and just about any other way. my very fave thing is fresh salsa. it's delicious and easy to make.

tomatoes
onion
green pepper
garlic salt
lime

chop, squeeze lime, season with garlic salt to taste. so yummy!

what's your fave thing to do with fresh tomatoes?

the parents come to visit..kind of

my parents live in missouri. i wish they lived closer, but they don't. a few months ago they started talking about a trip out west. the trip included a few days at my sister's house in california and a few days at my grandparents' house in southern utah. luckily i got to spend a couple of those days with them.

they arrived around 10:00pm on saturday night. i picked them up from the shuttle and spent a little time with them. we went to church on sunday morning and spent the rest of the day at my grandparents' house.

the rest of my mom's family came over that evening to celebrate father's day. living thousands of miles away from my dad, i've spent a lot of father's days away from my dad, but the past 2 years i've been lucky to celebrate with him in person.

unfortunately i had to leave monday morning to get to work. it was a pretty short visit, but i'm happy for the short time i got to spend with my parents.

what would you do...summer drink

kimberly and i don't drink alcohol. we started talking about topic ideas for the summer and decided there aren't enough non-alcoholic fun summer drinks. our topic for the month is
WHAT WOULD DO YOU...summer drinks

even before fun soda/cookie shops started popping up around utah, i loved dirty diet coke, all these shops have just fueled my love. by far my fave summer drink is dirty diet coke.

ingredients
diet coke
fresh lime
coconut syrup

squeeze fresh lime
add about 1tbsp of syrup
enjoy

it's so hot here lately (100+ degrees every day for weeks). i don't really feel like making dinner. some nights i prefer to drink a frozen drink and call it dinner.

ingredients
coconut almond milk (or milk of your choice)-1 1/2 c
watermelon-1 c
lemon yogurt-6 oz
lemon-fresh squeezed
ice

mix all in blender. i added more lemon juice after it was mixed to add more lemon flavor.

what's your favorite summer drink? link up your posts below. even though kimberly and i chose non-alcoholic drinks, drinks with alcohol are welcome too.

join us next month for WHAT WOULD YOU DO..with paint?
