Gym or Home Workouts

Are you a gym person or do you prefer an at home workout? For years and years (really all the pre 2020 years) I swore I would never be the person to workout at home. Rewind to the time when gyms closed for a time and we had no choice. It was workout at home or don’t workout at all. I was lucky enough at that time to start to build a home gym. I now have a decent amount of equipment and can get in a good workout at home.
One perk of home workouts is being able to easily switch up my footwear. I started having some issues with my feet a few years ago. At times it hurts to stand so it is nice to hop on my bike. At other times I might need some type of foot support like a plantar fasciitis brace or even a change of shoes or socks. I have wondered if it is planter fasciitis, but ultimately I don’t think that is it. I have had quite a bit of progress with physical therapy and using some taping. It is nice to know what is out there in case I need further support in the future.
I am lucky now to have a bike, a decent variety of weights, bands, and a few other things to help the home gym seem a little more like the actual gym. Honestly though nothing can replace the energy of the gym.
I will always be a gym girl at heart, but some of the time it is nice to be able to sleep a little longer and skip the commute to the gym. What about you? What is your favorite way to get in some movement throughout the day?

Tips for Meeting Your Nutrition Goals

Without fail, many of us each year have to change our diet actively. Eating a healthy diet can be difficult, as what we consider bad foods, simply taste great! Enjoying a burger and chips on the weekend, for a lot of people, is more enjoyable than having a Caesar salad or a soup. But having a salad or soup is a lot healthier and is good for your overall health. This is why it’s important to find a balance so that you can enjoy your corn bread mix whilst also enjoying a bag of crisps or soup sometimes.

Eating a healthy diet is important for many reasons. Not only will your mental health improve with a good diet, but you’ll also reduce the chances of getting ill and feel happier overall. So, how do you improve your diet? We can recommend a number of tips, such as drinking more water and adding vegetables to your sauces.

Keep on reading for our guide on tips for enjoying a healthy diet.

Adding vegetables to your sauces

It’s recommended that you eat five pieces of fruit or vegetables a day (vegetables are better overall, as they have less sugar). To increase the amount of fruit and vegetables, we recommend you cook with them and add them to your sauces. A simple way to do this is to add peas to your spaghetti bolognese sauce or extra onions to your curry sauce. By adding vegetables to your sauces, you don’t realise you are eating them, which makes eating more of them easier.

Drinking more water

On the average week, how much water do you drink? You should be aiming for around 2 to 3 litres each day, which a lot of people don’t manage to do. Drinking water is beneficial in many ways, it can help you sleep, help you think more clearly and reduce the chances of you getting dehydrated. Dehydration isn’t a pleasant experience and can lead to you getting very ill. The best way to drink more water is to track how much you drink each day on an app on your phone. Track yourself over a couple of weeks so you can get a good average and then work out what improvements you need to make.

Do not skip breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet so many people skip it! Breakfast is so important as it helps you wake up, gives your brain energy in the morning and starts your digestive system. If you haven’t been eating breakfast, make this one of the first changes you make as this can make a big difference. Even if you have a small breakfast, this can still help and it will help with your fitness

What tips would you recommend to someone trying to enjoy a healthy diet? Is there anything in our guide on enjoying a healthy diet that we are missing? Which of the above tips did you find most useful? Let us know in the comment box below, we look forward to hearing from you.
