beauty time Tuesday-#noshavewave

Anyone who knows me very well knows how obsessed I am with laser hair removal. I love silky smooth skin, but who wants to shave all the time?!? Laser is great, but it can get expensive. It's definitely not convenient. I recently discovered silk 'n. I have heard of at home treatment options for years and finally decided to try it. It's so easy to use. I have only used it a couple of times, but so far I love it. It takes several treatments to notice results, and I am so excited to continue to use it. I spend a lot of time shaving every single day. The thought of not shaving anymore makes me so excited. This is quick and easy and I don't have to spend hours in an office getting touch ups. I can't wait until I finish all the recommended treatments.

I've teamed up with silk n' to offer you a discount through the end of the year. Use code SILKNTALK for a 15% discount.

**i received this product for testing. all opinions are my own.

foodie Friday-apple cinnamon overnight oats

Does anyone else struggle a little with breakfast? I'm usually rushing out the door to get to work, and I need something I can eat in my car. Overnight oats have been the perfect solution. They're simple to make. They are good for 3-4 days, and they're easy to eat in the car.
I made pumpkin overnight oats several weeks ago. To say they were a fail is a major understatement. They were not good at all. I like berry flavors but it's hard to find fresh berries this time of year. Last week I tried something completely different, and it was so delicious. The recipe is a list of ingredients. Layer each ingredient in a 4 oz mason jar, shake, refrigerate, and eat.
Do you make overnight oats? Or any other quick breakfast?

Thankful

I love the month of November and the additional focus on gratitude. There is so much to be thankful for. Today and everyday I am have so much gratitude for my life. Although it is nothing like I ever expected, I am very blessed. My heart is full as I celebrate all I have to be thankful for.

Family
Friends old and new

Strong healthy body
Job I love
Beauty all around
And so much more! I feel especially thankful today for the life I have-a life very different than I ever expected but nonetheless a very beautiful life. My heart is full.

unblogged bloggables-california trip

i got pretty behind with blogging this summer/fall. i'm going to spend the next few weeks trying to get caught up on everything.

over the summer my parents and i went to california and jordan came up from LA for karlee's baptism. it was a quicker trip than i usually take. we spent time with the kids, visited yosemite, had the baptism, and enjoyed our quick trip.

the kids did pop its, rode bikes/rollerblades, jumped on the tramp, and blew bubbles. we had a great time, and it was so good to spend time with family.

foodie friday-cilantro lime cauliflower rice

People have been talking about cauliflower rice for a while. I'm a little late to discover it. It's my new favorite. The texture is close to rice, and it absorbs flavor. I tried a cilantro lime flavor this week and really like it.

cut up cilantro (as much as desired) and sauté with minced onion (1-2 tablespoons) and garlic powder (1 tablespoon) in olive oil
add one bag of cauliflower rice
cook over medium high heat
add lime juice
simmer for about 10 minutes
serve as a side or mixed in a main dish

beauty time Tuesday-new products

I have used many of the same beauty products for years. Lately I love trying new things. I still have and replace many of my old faves, but it's kind of fun to add new things to my makeup bag.
Clinique chubby stick foundation-I used Clinique liquid foundation for years before switching to powder foundation. The chubby stick is a great in between. It provides decent coverage, and it builds really well. This came in a gift set. I will probably buy it once it's gone. I use a beauty blender, and that works great.
Bare Minerals primer-This primer comes in sets pretty often. I have used it in the past and like it. I don't usually buy it because of the price, but I like using it when I have it.
Clinique loose setting powder-I have never used Clinique powder-loose or pressed. This also came in a gift. I use the Laura Mercier setting powder, and the Clinique is comparable. It works well, and I really like it.
Stila Stay All Day foundation-I have been using and loving powder foundation for years but wanted to have a liquid option in my makeup bag. This foundation lives up to its name. It provides full coverage, builds nicely for more coverage, and really does stay all day.
Bare Minerals Bare Pro foundation-This was a gift with purchase. It is a pretty tiny sample. It is a pressed powder foundation but goes on very similar to the loose powder foundation. The coverage is slightly better. I may buy a full size when my loose powder is gone.
Bare Minerals concealer-I heard good things about this concealer so when it was an ulta beauty steal I decided to try it. It's a lot thinner than what I am used to. It took me a while to like it, but I really like it now. I set it with Bare Minerals powder concealer and it's great.

Have you tried anything new lately? What are some of your makeup faves?

weekend happs

I intentionally stayed in on Friday with plans to get some things done. By the time I got home from work, talked to my mom on the phone for a while, and ate dinner, I was too tired to be productive. I went to bed pretty early, and it felt great.
I am trying to keep my miles up while the weather has been nice. I had a lovely morning run with some of my favorites.
With the weather being so nice it's hard to believe Christmas is coming. Traverse mountain lights their tree a little early. It's a fun start to the holiday season. After the lights we had dinner at Slab.
I did a ton of meal prep on Sunday. Recipes are coming soon. I had dinner with Laurann before a musical fireside.

I got quite a bit done this weekend. How was your weekend? Any exciting happs?

beauty time Thursday

all of the makeup brushes I use on a daily basis used to fit in my makeup bag. then I bought more brushes. then I bought more makeup. all of a sudden my makeup bag was exploding. between frequent travel and random days of getting ready at the gym, I needed something to easily transport my brushes and still see them. Sephora has exactly what I was looking for. it fits all the brushes I use daily. it's portable, and i can see all my brushes.

one little word: november goals

i am starting to see post about x number of weekends until christmas or x days until christmas. i honestly still think it's summer so i have a hard time believing we are so close to the end of the year. it's hard to believe after this month there is only one more month of focusing on my goal to be still. that goal has definitely evolved over the year as my overall goals have changed too.
yearly goals to be still
1. morning and night quiet time-i continue to do ok with this goal. i use my drive to the gym in the morning to try to set the tone for the day. i try to keep to positive thoughts and preparation for the day. i still need to work on more quiet time at night.
2. attend the temple monthly-i went to the draper temple
3. color once a week-not a goal anymore
4. prayer book-keep list of people i need to remember to pray for-i have the list. i want to pay more attention to it and add to it when appropriate.

October goals
1. continue 5 minutes of nightly stretching/journaling-i didn't do very well with this. i did stretch some nights but not very many
2. finish reading you are a badass-check. i love this book so much! everyone should read it. i have it by my bed so i can review some of the things in the book.
3. listen to/read 5 general conference talks each week-due to travel I missed all of general conference and need to catch up-i have listened to a lot of talks although it hasn't been the daily listening like i planned.

November goals
1. finish listening to general conference
2. write 3 things i am thankful for each day
3. continue csatt fitness goals (the 30 day challenges do not line up with the calendar months. i always have monthly goals with that.)

how are your goals? did you pick one little word for the year? link up your posts below.

foodie friday...monster cupcakes

we had a potluck at work on halloween. i have been trying to be pretty strict about what i eat so i wanted to take something healthy that i could actually eat. i planned to make a vegetable tray and put greek yogurt ranch dip in a pumpkin. well, i forgot to buy the dip packet. all my plans for a healthy snack were ruined, but i happened to have all the supplies on hand for monster cupcakes.
I used the 21 star tip for the green monsters and the tip with all the holes for the yellow. They were a big hit.
