nordstrom anniverary sale purchases

i love the nordstrom anniversary sale. who doesn't right?!? i look forward to it every time. i save my gift cards and nordstrom notes, and it's so fun to shop the sale, especially the early access sale. there are plenty of guides online. one of my favorite things is seeing what everyone bought. the sale this year is especially good.

sigma cleaning mat and flat kabuki brush
MAC look in a box featuring limited edition products
MAC brave lipstick and whirl liner

BP jacket
i've been hearing about this cardigan for years, and i'm so excited to finally get one.

BP jacket

i am so excited about all of my purchases this year. i can't wait to wear everything. did you shop the sale? what did you buy?

blogging about blogging:cultivate kick-off party

it has been a long time since i have been to any blogger events. although i still post often, blogging has unintentionally taken a bit of a backseat for the past several months.

i attended a really great event last night-the kick-off party for cultivate, a community of bloggers. it was the perfect amount of structured activity and free time to chat. it was so much fun catching up with friends and meeting new people.

new beauty fave

i love beauty products-all of them! i love my standard faves, but i also love trying new things. i was so excited to try out these products from amika.
the products smell amazing, and they work really well. i have the dry shampoo and texture spray, and i love them both. i need to get more products.

blogging the bach 12.9

is anyone else ready for this season to end? i like jojo. the guys are fine, but i am done. i'm glad we are getting close to the final rose.
who's watching:megan, celsey and shawn, me

rose ceremony
what i saw
the week starts from the to be continued.
jojo saying goodbye to luke is so awkward. just say goodbye and be done with it
what i heard
just send them all and be single--megan
i literally don't care, but i get anxiety watching rose ceremonies
what i thought
keeping jordan was predictable
do we just announce luke as the bachelor now? his hometown really set him up to be the bachelor.

date with robby
what i saw
why is robby kissing with his eyes open?
what i heard
maybe business is booming again. they can take them to cool places--megan
it feels very robotic--megan
what do you do robby? a former competitve swimmer is not impressive--megan
unless you are michael phelps, being a former swimmer is not competitve swimmer--cel
what i thought
robby got the explore the town date. that's not usually a good sign.

date with jordan
what i saw
jojo and jordan are in the temple talking about families and hometowns-things are serious
jojo seems more into this than she was with robby
what i heard
is that a monk?--cel
what i thought
jojo is excited to explore a life a travel and adventure with jordan-because that's real life
we totally thought jordan was going to get the boat date of the season
jojo gets a little defensive at dinner. she wants to hear the same things from jordan that she heard from robby

date with chase
what i saw
chase was a little less boring and a little more fun
robby shows up, and i'm not happy. he bugs me.
oops the camera man is showing.
what i heard
the curls are fierce--cel
i want to know how her lipstick stays put with all that kissing--meg
what i thought
chase keeps talking about being in love. i was scared he wasn't going to say it.
she shouldn't have brought him to the fantasy suite. she should have told him that at dinner. she doesn't seem to know what she wants.
she knows she should have told him earlier. we're all a little frustrated that she won't just let chase have his feelings.

rose ceremony
what i saw
chase shows up. chase still loves jojo. jojo still doesn't love chase.
what i heard
never trust a man in flip flops--megan
apparently she has a type.since they're both wearing the same outfit--megan
it wasn't dramatic enough--megan
what i thought
i'm pretty afraid for whoever she picks. i highly doubt it's going to work.
jordan has been the obvious pick all season. she picks him first every time.

i will be on a plane during the final rose last week. i'm kind of mad about it.

weekend happs

i don't remember who said the quote "the days are long, but the weeks are short", but it is so true. time is going by so quickly. each day seems to drag a little with long lists of things to do and the monotony of daily life. when i think another week or weekend has come and gone, i can't believe how quickly it is.

this weekend was really low key. even though i have so many things i need to get done, summer somehow makes me a little less worried about doing all of those things. i slow down just a little and enjoy time a little more.

i went to dinner with mandi on friday night. we ate at the sushi bar-something i have never done before. it was kind of fun watching them make the sushi and interacting with the guys making it. we met up with her friend after and sat outside and chatted. i love summer nights, and i realized i am not enjoying them as much as i should. i need to make more plans for outside.

i am right at the height of marathon training so i spent a huge amount of time on saturday running. we didn't have much of a plan. instead we made decisions along the way. we ran almost 8 of our miles in and around the university of utah. it slowed us down a little, but it was also a fun adventure.

summer saturdays are for working out and laying out, and that's exactly what i did. i love spending summer afternoons at the pool. i love the sun and i love summer. it was perfect.

on sunday i went to church and did things around the house. i went to a backyard bonfire that night. i love the idea of fires, but i don't love the smoke, it was a really nice night and fun to catch up with friends.

my weekend is actually still going. i have today off work. i have a pretty long list of things i need to accomplish so i am staying home to be productive.

how was your weekend? any exciting happs?

summer fun-keith urban concert

one of my favorite things to do in the summer is go to outdoor concerts. we have a great outdoor venue here, and it's the perfect way to spend a summer night.
usana is decent enough sized that tickets rarely sell out. celsey's mother in law mentioned keith urban on monday night. we decided on a whim to go.
we had the best time. we met cory and sandy for dinner before heading over. it was 100 degrees yesterday, but thankfully it cooled off pretty quickly.
the music was great. the crowd was fun. it was the perfect summer night.

why is the mom wearing a track jacket?
what i heard
ewww that's a muddy mess--cel
he's asking this nooowww--amanda
the moms always look at little questionable--celsey
she's trying to be young and hip--alicia
when people say that it actually means they are a boob and cry over everything--cel
what i thought
jojo says the snow and mountains are beautiful. they really are, but i hate the snow so much. i would not love this date at all.
chase says he's falling in love, and even though we haven't seen it a lot i think she is falling in love too. he's not the fave around him, but i really like him for some reason.

jordan's hometown
what i saw
jojo's makeup is amazing
jordan got a haircut finally
what i heard
they were the ones that peaked in high school--alicia
so he's all about the sport he doesn't even play anymore--sandy
just by random chance his picture is front and center--sandy
holy shiz. her hair is full of secrets--amanda
mom and jordan have the same haircut--amanda
he obviously learned it from her--lacey
well he just shared them with the world so..--lacey
what i thought
of all the places i could take people in my hometown, i would not take anyone to my high school
i still think jordan is going to break her heart

robby's hometown
what i saw
the boys seem to have a uniform
what i heard
he broke up with his girlfriend how long ago?--sandy
i wouldn't have done that--sandy
after this date i like him a lot more--amanda
what i thought
robby goes on and on about blah blah blah and he's not convincing jojo of any of it
we interrupt this broadcast for the republic convention. is this for real? i am not too big into politics, but i am especially uninterested in the middle of the bach

luke's hometown
what i saw
luke has the biggest crowd at his hometown date than i have ever seen
what i heard
amanda keeps talking about her future with luke and we're teasing her a bit
this looks like it's going to be a really awkward conversation--alicia
aubrey, be nice--amanda when i was making fun of luke
what i thought
luke wins for cutest date even if it is a little cheesy

rose ceremony
what i saw
jojo is crying before it even starts
jojo tells us she's sending luke home. there's an akward silence and we all know luke is going to say he needs to talk to her.
what i heard
the person that gets sent home gets send home sooner than normal--amanda
she picked a lot of former people--alicia
you should have told her you freak--cel
what i thought
to be continued and 2 nights next week-we're all furious

weekend happs

i got home from california super late sunday night. i had the best trip (another post coming), but i came back so exhausted. it was totally worth it, but starting out the week exhausted made it kind of hard. all week long i felt like i was completely dragging. i couldn't wait for the weekend.
the weekend was exactly what i needed it to be-pretty low key.

it started out with a new baby nephew. he is the cutest thing, and i am so sad he lives so far away.
i worked a little later than planned on friday. after work i met mandi at nordstrom and shopped the early access anniversary sale. i'm planning a haul post as soon as i get the jacket i had to order online, but i got a few cute new things for fall and some makeup. i have bought quite a bit of new makeup lately so i am putting myself on a makeup buying freeze.

after nordstrom we grabbed dinner at applebees. have you been there lately? their menu has changed or something. the past few times i have been there it has been so gross. i had a steak salad, and it was actually pretty good. i swore off that place a while ago, but i'm kind of glad i gave it another chance.

a few weeks ago i signed up for the big cottonwood marathon in september. i was already increasing my mileage on saturdays, but now i officially have to. i was afraid saturday's run was going to be really rough because i was so tired. it was better than i thought, and the route was so pretty. the weather was really nice too. i did have to lay down on the grass when we finished because i was a little afraid i might die.

after running, i spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool with mandi, tiffany, and sage. it wasn't very crowded and it was the perfectly relaxing day. summer is going by way too quickly, and it's making me sad.

after the pool we grabbed some dinner and ended up seeing the draper days fireworks as we were driving. i love fireworks! it seems like there are fireworks all summer long here, and i love it.

sunday was pretty low key too. i slept in, went to church, spent time with some friends.

i love having a lot of plans and being really busy, but i also love being a little more low key and relaxed especially after a stressful, tiring week.

how was your weekend? any exciting happs?

foodie friday...quick easy healthy lunch

i don't know about you, but i have the hardest time feeding myself especially lunch. even when i am home and have whatever food available, i do not seem to eat as much as i should. if i have any chance of eating, it has to be something quick an easy.

one of my favorite meals in a turkey wrap in a whole wheat tortilla with fruit on the side.

serve with a side of fruit. so easy and fast. what are some of your favorite summer lunches?

blogging the bach 12.something

who's watching-celsey, shawn for a minute here and there-far less commentary with less people

does anyone even know where they are???

one on one with alex/dudes on a "bus"
what i saw
dudes all kinds of freaking out
the date doesn't seem to be going well. they both look miserable.
alex rambles on and on about his feelings and things are awkward.
what i heard
shorty needs to go home--cel
everyone is rapping. what is happening?
when i hear the word gaucho, i think those pants--cel
can you imagine the smell?--cel
what i thought
a one on one seems with alex seems like a waste
jojo says she really needs this time with him. it seems like a big waste of time to me.
alex is shocked. i'm pretty sure he is the only one.

jordan-let's toast to love
what i saw
jojo really really likes jordan which makes me think he is going to break her heart
jordan says he is in love. jojo's face is completely different than when alex said that.
what i heard
that's not wine. do they know it has to sit and rot for a while?--shawn
smallest hot tub and bikini in the world--cel
what i thought
i'm worried for jojo

chase, james, robby-let our love soar
what i saw
at least robby is wearing black underwear
more connection with chase than the other two on this date
i totally tuned out with james taylor
what i heard
if you were going to have the perfect slumber party, would you have it with 3 dudes? NO--cel
i hate how confident he is. it's so annoying--cel
i think plenty of things i don't say out loud--cel
what i thought
before the date even starts james taylor bugs me
james feels insecure or jealous or something and acts ridiculous
robby and jojo are cute, but it's nothing like jojo and jordan
robby is so confident that it makes me think it's not him

one on one with luke
what i saw
another horse date
what i heard
she totally tailored this date to him--cel
i think i'd feel jipped--cel
what i thought
everyone is having the best day ever. how can this possibly be their best day ever?
there's no night part of that date?
this date wasn't very noteworthy

rose ceremony
what i saw
she goes with the obvious first
what i heard
she loves him--cel about jordan
it's you bro. 100 times it's you--cel
what i thought
i am so happy james taylor is gone. i'm sure he's going to paradise.
the previews look like some drama is coming which is what it always looks like.

God Bless America

it's been 16 years since i lived out of the country for 4 months. 4 months isn't very long, but it was long enough for me to come to really appreciate living in the United States. during my 4 months in the Dominican Republic we traveled to Puerto Rico for a week. we were all so happy to be back to part of America. i have always been patriotic, but that experience made me much more proud to be an american.

i love holidays! all of the holidays! 4th of July is one of my favorites. i love the fireworks and barbeques and family and fun. most of all i love celebration.
i celebrated a few times this year. byu stadium of fire was on saturday, july 2 this year. tiffany's brother and family came to town so we celebrated with them. we met for a bbq and then went down to provo. we spent almost as much time in the car as we did in the stadium, but it was so worth it. tim mcgraw was the headline performer. i have seen him tons of times in concert, and he is one of my favorites. the energy of the crowd was incredible, and we had the most fun.

the actual holiday was the opposite and equally fun.

shyloh, mandi, and i started the day at pure barre. i love starting the day with a killer workout.
we went back to my house for breakfast and then hit the pool. the rest of the day was so relaxing.
we didn't have specific plans for the evening besides fireworks somewhere. stephanie and her neighbors did street fireworks. they were pretty cool until one shot sideways across the grass. it was a little scary, but luckily everyone was ok.

I had so much fun celebrating this year. what did you do to celebrate?

one little word: july goals

the year is half over. how in the world did that happen? this year has been really good to me and so much different than i anticipated when the year first started. i have a continual need in my life to be still. i get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, and i really feel the need to slow down even a little.

yearly goals to be still
1. morning and night quiet time-i continue to do well with mornings and need to improve with night time-same report as last month
2. attend the temple monthly-i don't think i made it in june
3. color once a week-FAIL-total and complete fail
4. prayer book-keep list of people i need to remember to pray for-the list is beside my bed. i have been doing ok with this

june goals
1. quiet time before bed for at least 5 minutes-i did ok but can do better
2. be in bed by midnight-FAIL-sometimes the more i try to get to bed early the worse it gets
my life has been completely unbalanced lately. i need to really focus on being a little more still and getting more sleep before worrying about any other goals-still true.

july goals
1. bed by midnight
2. spend 2 hours each week on blog things-posts, edits, emails, etc.

how are your goals? grab the button and linkup
