...wanted to reinvent yourself? I have been in more or less the same setting for years now. Even though I have moved a few times and made new friends, I am in basically the same scene as I have been since college. I have no plans to leave anytime soon so I have never really thought about it too much. I went to dinner with a couple friends (one of which is up and moving across the country in a month) the other night. While I was stocking up on mascara at Nordstrom, Tina was looking around and ended up looking at headbands (something she usually never wears). We started talking about trying new things, and I reminded her she is moving to a new town and can be whoever she wants. Our motto for the night became new town, new you. How exciting! I'm pretty predictable. People know what to expect from me. The thought of moving to a new town and being whoever you want to be sounds exciting and fun. Don't worry people. I'm not going anywhere. Also, don't worry about this headband. It was absurd and totally a joke although Tina did buy some really cute headbands for project new town, new you.

Staff Retreat
Since Kids on the Move depends on a lot of volunteers, they decided to give back to the community. The morning half of our staff retreat this year was spent with Habitat for Humanity. Our group spent the morning leveling a backyard and pulling out the hugest lilac bush for transplant. That bush was a beast and took all morning but we FINALLY got it out.
After all the manual labor, we all met at a park and had lunch and free time. Not such a bad way to spend a work day.

I flew into San Diego Thursday morning to meet Chelsea and fam. We spent 2 fun filled days at SeaWorld. Chelsea took pictures with her camera so naturally I only used my phone. I had major technology problems right before going to the airport so luckily the trip is documented on instgram.

Race for the Cure
6 years ago I ran my first race ever...race for the cure. I was scared out of my mind. I was never ever a runner, and I actually really hated running. My friends signed me up. and I really thought it was the worst thing ever...wrong. My first Race for the Cure was the best thing ever. It was so cool, and I promised as long as I was in town I would do the race every year. My return to running after my surgery has been much slower and harder than I expected. This Saturday was about the worst day for a race. I really didn't have time, but I just had to do it. I'm so glad I did. I still love Race for the Cure so much. Where else do you see thousands and thousands of people uniting for the same cause??? It is still one of my favorite events ever, and sadly I was really proud of myself for being able to run the whole thing. Please bless this building miles doesn't kill me. Now that I'm finally running again, I might actually post my running story. My running came full circle with this race. From my first race ever to my first post op race, I still love Race for the Cure!

my saturday diet consisted of an apple, aboout 1/4 of the top of the embarrassing cake, a couple churros, a hand full of popcorn, a whole lotta pretzel dogs, and finally a real meal at red robin that night...barf. no wonder i felt disgusting.

100 days
Former co worker Andrea posted a challenge on Facebook to do 100 situps for 100 days. I'm always up for a challenge so I'm joining her and adding 100 pushups a day too. So far, I really kind of love it.

BLUE
April was Autism Awareness month. After surviving wearing blue on workdays last year, I upped the challenge to everyday in April this year. Blue isn't my favorite color, and I didn't think I had a lot of blue. It really wasn't that bad. I had plenty of things to wear. Just when I started getting sick of wearing blue every single day, it made me stop and think of the symbolism of it all. Autism doesn't go away...not when you're sick of it, not when it's been along time, not when you want another choice, not ever. Autism is all day everyday. One month was nothing compared to a lifetime of Autism. Light it up BLUE!
after my hair challenges the 2 months before I was a little burned out with the taking daily pictures of myself. these are practically the only days i took pictures. even though there's nothing to prove it, i really did wear blue everyday.
