weekend happs

before the weekend started, i knew i had a few plans, but i mostly planned to get things done. i should stop planning because things never seem to go according to plan.

my weekend plans went out the window right from the start. i left work 2 1/2 hours later than planned. by the time i went to the gym and the store, the night was over.
we planned our saturday run around meeting our friend sharon along the course of the salt lake marathon. i love the race atmosphere. it's so inspiring.
tiffany and kenny got married on saturday. she looked like a princess. i love weddings! it's such a happy time to celebrate 2 people starting their lives together. kenny was pretty emotional through out the wedding, and it was the sweetest thing ever.
after the wedding i ran a few errands and planned to come home and work on some stuff for church, the blog, etc. laurann called and remembered she had 4 tickets to the REAL soccer game instead of 2. we scrambled to find another person to come. the game was full of yellow cards and a red card so the soccer was a little disappointing, but we had a fun time.
my contacts were old, and my eyes killed saturday night. i really hate wearing glasses, but my eyes needed a break. i survived all day with glasses!
i'm participating in a loop giveaway on instagram. it's easy to enter so head on over.

the weekend ended up more eventful than planned, and it was a great weekend.
how was your weekend? any exciting happs?

nature center and soccer game

last time we came to missouri my mom had all kinds of fun things planned...every single day. the weather this time hasn't been as good so we haven't been able to get out of the house and do as many things.

we went to the nature center one afternoon. i had pretty low expectations, but it was actually kind of fun.

karson loved looking at the fish tank and wanted to show everyone what he saw. it was pretty cute.

jordan and zach play intramural soccer. we went and watched a game. they might have been a little embarassed, but it was like old times watching them play.

karson spent the whole time asking to "go out there" so the kids went out for a few minutes after the game.

even though the weather hasn't been too great the whole time we've been here, we've still found a few fun things to do.

weekend things

Besides the usual Saturday things...running, cleaning, grocery shopping and a few extras...fabric shopping, babysitting, I spent most of the weekend glued to the computer watching the crossfit games. I've seen a lot of sports, but this is competition like none other. The things they have to do are insane. I miss it and really want to go back.

Hacks Pack Ute won the whole team competition. I felt like a proud mom or something

Finally...

A little over a year ago my friend Brynn somehow convinced to sign up for a crossfit gym. I had no idea what I was getting myself into other than all of a sudden I was getting my booty kicked every time I went to the gym. Ute Crossfit was started by a former Ute football player and his former Ute soccer player wife. They got all their collegiate athletes to join so the place is pretty intense. If everyone wasn't so nice, I would probably have to quit, but everyone really is so nice. We do crazy things like jump on boxes, handstand pushups, carry sandbags, and other crazy things like pull ups. I struggle with a lot of things at crossfit, but pull ups have been the death of me. I thought I would NEVER be able to do them. I've been working and working and working trying to get better but mostly just got frustrated. One day last week we worked on pull ups. I FINALLY did some pull ups...all on my own and I have the blistered/callused hands to prove it. Let's just hope I can do them again next time.

Arizona

Until I can figure out how to actually write captions on these pictures on my phone here's the recap of the photos... 1. superstition mountain hike 2. with Anne at the top of the hike 3. mountain biking turned into hike with a bike 4. tennis 5. THIS is what I came back to. not happy!

After a couple years of talking about it, I FINALLY made it to Arizona. It was an AMAZING weekend filled with fun in the sun...just the way I like it. What could be better than hiking, biking, and tennis in January?!? I want to move there immediately but since I have such a great job here I'll probably have to settle for more winter getaways.

Dirty Dash and Boating

Dirty Dash=6.2 miles of running in the dirt, mud, obstacle courses, mud pools, slip n slide and MUCHO FUN! I ran with my fried from work Noelle.
I don't really know how you could prepare for this event.
The first obstacle was with in 10 feet of the start.
A muddy hill with the sprinklers going.
Mud was flying everywhere and everyone was soaking wet.
The next obstacle was about a mile up, jumping hay barrels.
Then it was crawling through tubes 3 different times.
Next was the climbing walls...
not your typical climbing walls...pools of mud on both ends.
You literally started sinking as soon as you stepped in it. And the landing straight into mud.
We ran through tires army style...
A long the way there were pools of mud...no joke when i say pools.
You had to jump in and climb out!
Then we ran a long a marshy lake.
Everyone was just laughing so hard. We were all completely covered in mud.
After what seemed like running forever we hit the "Slop and slide".
It was a blow up slide that had 5 different slots so your team could all go at the same time.
We ran and jumped and slid down.
Then you land into a pool of mud. Trying to run through this was hilarious cause you just kept falling down.
We could then see the finish line...the final stretch!
It was just like a pig pen.
Climbing into mud basically crawling across and doing that again 3 times.

pre-race (nice and clean)
post race (really muddy)
i tried to see several friends, but it just didn't work out. i did run into suzie in the parking lot.

After the race Marianne invited me to go boating at Jordanelle with a whole new crowd of people. It seemed like it would be perfect since I was so close. It was sort of rough trying to meet up, but it finally worked out. Marianne had to leave shortly after I got there, but everyone was so nice so I stayed. I was so excited to meet and spend the day with some new friends. Guess I don't know every single person in SLC.

SOCCER

I've been wanting to go to a REAL Salt Lake game forever, but it never seems to happen. It finally happened this weekend. I went with Laurann to the game. The team didn't play so well, but it was still a lot of fun.
