kimberly and i are back for week 3 of our bachcaps. as a side note, i just realized i have been calling this season 8 and it's really season 9...oops! usually by week 3 i am starting to figure out the guys a little bit and pick favorites easier than night 1. some guys are definitely standing out making themselves known, but i still asked who the crap is that several times (i think it was dan every time).
i read all.day.long about how crazy this episode was and not to miss the start. confession...i made the briefest appearance at a 1 year old birthday party so i could race home to not miss a minute. although the michael/ben drama started right from the get (i'm already getting sick of it), i couldn't figure out what all the hype was about.
until...
google image
dudes walked out in dodgeball outfits...can these be considered vintage?
brooks (who i still really like...i think) has to put his hair in a 1/2 pony and then proceeds to break his finger. i didn't know broken fingers required ambulances, hospitals, and oxygen, but what do i know? i've never broken a finger.
the blue team wins but everyone really wins (as someone pointed out on twitter...not everyone wins...remember the goat's milk des)...who does she like on the red team? i seriously couldn't figure out who was on what team or if ben and michael were on the same team. they probably weren't, but i was happy to have a break from that drama.
obviously the big drama of the night was brian and his hired actor girlfriend. this storyline is old. i'm over it, and the dude is just plain not smart.
kasey totally gets the shaft on his date. it had potential to turn out like ashley and jp's first date, but it just didn't happen. i mostly noticed that a freaking amazing body is required to wear those peach super skinnies. the dancing most likely also requires a rockin body.
i still can't figure out who is who on the cowboy date. what is my problem this week? i feel super awks for the boys that they are all watching each other. that seems like a nightmare. the last thing i want is for a bunch of my girlfriends to stand around and watch me attempt to do all these stunt things.
things of note on this date...
brilliant move from juan pablo busting out the spanish
the mason jars were perfect. i don't drink, but if i did i would definitely want my alcohol in a mason jar.
i'm in love with that big fat teal ring. where can i get that thing?
zak looks old, and it's depressing me that he is actually younger than i am.
if you don't have a sob story you are basically screwed.
kissing sounds are terrible, and they should really mute them.
a few other things of note...
ben (in his hideous girl tank) is both brilliant and annoying. stealing des is brilliant, but he is literally bugging me to death. i'm sure he'll stick around, but i'm OVER him big time.
and now for the bleachable moments...too many to pick 1
brooks and his broken finger. still really like him, but that was highly unfortunate
brian coming on the show. what a dip!
and last but certainly not least...
dear brandon, do NOT bust out the L word anytime soon. i'm sure we all called his departure.
the word tally for the night (not as good as last week)
amazing...6
journey...2
fairytale...1
connection...4
lucky...1
right reasons...5
i expect these to pick up a little more in the next couple of weeks
holy novel of a post. there was just way too much good material this week.
I keep talking about this trip I went on and promises to blog about it. I had to go through 400+ pictures before I could actually figure out what to post. The stars aligned for probably the only time in my life and I got 3 trips in 1. It was amazing and a dream! I want to go back.
Carrie and Brooke planned a trip to St. Kitts a couple of months ago. I got home one day and found out they planned to leave St. Kitts the day I planned to arrive in St. Thomas with a different group of friends. Since I would already be there, and the dates matched up perfectly, I decided to do both.
I left Salt Lake on Monday evening, and after a crazy night/day of travel I arrived in St. Kitts on Tuesday early afternoon ready to hit the pool. Carrie and Brooke were already there with a chair waiting for me. The trip was exactly what I needed...lots of sun, relaxation, and ZERO responsibilities. We did whatever we wanted.
so green
St. Kitts is located on the Atlantic and Caribbean. The Marriott is on the Atlantic which is nice and beautiful, but a little less appealing than the pool. We spent most of the time by the pool. I really love the sun a lot, and laying by the pool all day is heaven for me. I read 3 books and lots of magazines, and couldn't have been happier.
Although laying by the pool was fabulous, one day we took a taxi around the island. Our driver gave us a history of the island and took us several places including the Caribbean side, botanical gardens, and a fortress. It was cool to see more of the island and learn a little more about the place. Before going I knew St. Kitts is not a US Virgin Island, but I didn't know exactly what it is. It is independent. according to the cab driver, they have plenty of water sources there
botanical gardens
mango trees everywhere. when they are ripe you can pick them and eat them. sadly they were very green.
400 year old tree
looks like regular tye dye, but it is done one layer at a time by hand
after spending most of the week in our swimsuits we had to document actually getting dressed
lobster plant. i was a little obsessed with all the plants and trees
Our resort was really pretty, but I am so happy we got to see more of the island. Next up, some pictures from the fortress.
it's been a while since i posted about my monthly dinner group. several (like maybe 4 or 5) years ago, janeal, laurann, a couple other girls, and i started meeting for dinner once a month. we rotate houses and each bring part of the meal. the group has changed a couple of times over the years. we added wendy in may, and hopefully she wants to continue coming. the host makes the main dish, and the rest of us bring an appetizer, side, and dessert. we exchange recipes (usually with a few alterations). dinner group is always so much fun. i love these girls so much and look forward to these monthly get togethers.
i have appetizer this month. does anyone have any good ideas for me? i will have all the others parts of the meal in the coming months so send me your favorites pretty please.
PS. I swear I will blog about my trip soon. I have so many pictures to go through first, but it will happen.
kimberly and i are back again discussing the bach. the turnaround time was quick this time since i was so late last week. i'll try to be a little quicker the rest of the season.
i am still trying to figure out who in the heck all the guys are at this point. i picked my top 5 last week, and after tonight i definitely need a do over. i'm waiting another week or two, but i am definitely posting a revised top 5

a few noteworthy things about episode 2...
brooks got the first date. i missed the first 5 minutes so i didn't see him get the date card, but i'm sure he was stoked. i think i really like him so i hope he doesn't get hit with the typical first date curse. i also missed the critical moment when he talked about his family. i will def watch that online tomorrow. i see big things for these two. for now, i'm predicting him in the top 2.
speaking of abbreviations (def...definitely) i got a suggestion to put up a list of my faves on the sidebar. great idea! i will prob do that soon. stay tuned...
is anyone else concerned about the rapping group date? i would have straight up died! i wish i was more fun, but really that date would kill me. all the talk about the right reasons also nearly killed me but was hilarious for the rap.
google image
did anyone notice michael last week? i sure didn't, but he definitely stood out this week. one of the best things to come out of emily's season was the arie/jef bromance. i wonder if that will happen with these dudes as they gang up on ben. by the way, i'm giving ben the boot from my top 5. i knew it!
besides the bleachable moment which i will get to, i decided to pick a word or 2 each week to count the number of times it is said. this week i picked
AMAZING...22 (I might have missed 1 when des and bryden walked into dinner or in the first 5)
JOURNEY...2 (seriously? only 2?)
FAIRYTALE...1 (after last week i expected more)
i really should have counted
CONNECTION
RIGHT REASONS
LUCKY
now onto the bleachable moment(s)..i couldn't pick just one
1. poor brandon's attire for the group date...come on people. his grandma or mom or someone is probably watching this thinking i def don't want to see that
2. hot tub scene with bryden. has the poor dude ever seen this show? bach hot tubs=kissing...lots of kissing. bless his little heart
that's all for now. go check out what kimberly had to say, and let me know what you thought of week 2. who's your favorite so far? what about the most bleachable moment?
oh and PS...i'm sure not getting a rose seems like a total nightmare at the time, but i'm certain robert(whoever he is) is doing just fine.
may is over which means may 30x30 is over. i started out the month wondering why in the world i decided to do something so crazy when i knew i would be super busy getting ready to travel and then gone for 2 weeks. i am SO glad i did it! there were a few days i got a little sick of it, but i mostly felt like i had plenty of outfits to choose from.
the WORST part of the whole thing...taking pictures of myself
the BEST part...connecting with other bloggers
if you are considering doing this, i totally recommend it. you might (i said might ok) even see me linking up with kelly when she does it again in august.
The $60 Fashion Giveaway winner has been chosen! Congratulations, Betsy! You'll be receiving an email shortly with details on how to get your prize!
. now onto the rest of my outfits.
day 25. old navy shirt, cut off big stars
karlee loves to take pictures these days. i was more than happy to let her in the picture with me.
day 26...bella bird dress that finally made an appearance. i planned to wear it in the islands but forgot a slip. nordstrom cardi
my niece and nephew wanted to get in on the picture fun. aren't they the cutest?!?
and then they wanted silly faces...further evidence that i am clearly not a fashion blogger
day 27. back home from my trip. bella bird skirt, old navy stripe v, shade cardi. i never would have put this together before this challenge. i'm happy this forced me to look for new ideas.
day 28. back to work. bella bird skirt (yes the one from day 25, but i was at work instead of my sister's in california so i felt ok wearing it so close together. decided i like it better as a dress), gap stripe, target cardi
day 29. the weather turned cold again and ruined my planned outfit for the day. cream j crew, gap cardi, black skinnies kohls
day 30. if i had more time/patience i would edit this picture a little. i got my hair done and waited until after to take the picture, i look pretty rough by this hour of the day. melon gap stripe, gap cardi, banana shorts
it's the first sunday of the month so that means time to get churchy around here. actually this post is a little less churchy than some of the others.
i grew up in the south. southern hospitality is real...all the time...everywhere. people are most generally nice and friendly to each other all the time...in the grocery store, on the road, on the internet. you get my point. that's what i grew up with, and that's just how i thought people were. sadly now that i have been and lived more places, i realize not all people are just nice to each other just for the sake of being nice.
even though my recent travels (which I swear I am going to blog about soon) did not take me back to the south, i saw that same attitude. everyone in the virgin islands was so friendly. we went for a walk one day, and we were greeted by every single person we passed. i realize the workers in the resort are there to take care of the people staying there, but they were so genuinely friendly. it took me back to my southern upbringing, and really made me think about the way i treat people/the way i want to treat people.
that brings me to the churchy part. in the bible in the book of mark (among other places), talking about the commandments it says
mark 12:31
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
basically we are commanded to first love God and second love our neighbor. i am pretty good at loving my neighbors when they need something like a meal or a ride to the airport or even a babysitter, but i'm not always so good at being friendly to everyone i come in contact with or loving those that bother/bug me. i get irritated easily, and i judge when i shouldn't.
there is so much negativity everywhere. i don't need to be the cause. i want to do a better job at loving my neighbor and being kind/friendly/loving to everyone around me. i want to go back to my days of being a southern and bring a little southern hospitality wherever i go. my goal for this month is to be more aware of the way i treat my neighbors whether they be my actual neighbors (who i admit i don't actually know) or random people i come into contact with around town, on the road, on the internet, my family, etc. who wants to join me in making june the month of kindness?
be sure to check out there's a mouse in my kitchen for her churchy post
i don't watch much tv...at all. i am NEVER home, and i really can't sit still. BUT, i have confessed a few times that i really love the bach (all versions...bachelor, bachelorette, bachelor pad...so sad it's not on this summer). as a side note, i have also mentioned that i like to abbreviate any and everything possible so that will most def (definitely) be happening around here.
i've thought about blogging the seasons, but obvi (obviously) have never done it. i had so much fun teaming up with my may30x30 girls, and didn't want the fun to end. kimberly and i will be teaming up each week to bring you The Bachelorette season 9 (season 9 episode 1 hence the title 9.1...you with me still?)
before we get into this season...
kimberly did an awesome post about bach lingo. check it here.
i'm not just going to recap the episode. if you watched, you know what happened, and if you didn't, you probably don't care.
one last thing...i HATE spoilers! if i want them, i know where to find them. it sucks the fun out of it for me. i love love love comments, but if you post spoilers i will be really sad and delete them immediately. thanks for understanding
enough with the biz (business) and onto the show
the first week is always a little hard for me. i can't keep track of who anyone is, and i feel a little like i have no idea what is going on. since i knew i had a blog to write, i took some notes (yes i'm a nerd).
i already heard the following bach classic words/phrases...amazing, here for the right reasons, journey, fairy tale...did i miss any?
i'm straight up in love with the blue car they gave her. i don't usually like crazy colors for cars, but i just love that blue (or maybe i just want to paint something that color).
i'm also in love with the shoes des played soccer in. i NEED those sparkly heels. also, she played soccer in heels. major points for that.
my first impression pick goes to Drew. i can't even tell you why. i picked him before she even started handing out roses, and i had to look online to see if he even got a rose. we'll see..
the rest of my top 5
ben (looks like he might be problems. i also liked tierra the first night, and look how that turned out)
brandon
brooks (he's from utah and appears to get a lot of screen time which makes me think he'll be around a long long time)
zach k maybe
i'll re-visit these in a few weeks and make some predictions.
i have a few tips for the poor dudes (who will obvi never read mine or anyone else's blogs)
girls love kids...always (good move ben)
hot bodies are super distracting (who knows what zak had to say. while he looked like a bit of a fool with no shirt on, his rockin body definitely stood out)
even girls with questionable morals do not want to talk about the fantasy suite right from the get (get go) (poor jonathan has a lot to learn)
and finally (are you still readying? this post is turning into a novel)...
when i went on the website to see if drew is still on/check out bios, i saw a poll for best bleachable moment. there were a few in this episode. i'll end my post each week with my pick for the best bleachable moment.
that could have but probably not been funny if he wasn't so serious about the fantasy suite. all i have to say about that is bless his little heart.
now go check out kimberly's post and see what she has to say. and let me know if you're watching and/or blogging and what you think of the guys this season.
i'm sure you're all dying to hear about my trip, and i will tell you all about it i promise. tonight i am dead tired from the swift kick in the rear from reality today. until i can go through ALL my pictures and get some sort of plan, i've got a couple other posts for you.
a while ago I linked up with some other bloggers to talk about what's in my bag. i generally keep the same things in my purse most of the time. i took out a few things i knew i wouldn't need while traveling so I guess i had some extra room. we forgot to bring the stroller shopping so i put kyler in my purse. Chelsea and i thought it was hilarious and couldn't stop laughing. karlee wasn't too amused with the whole thing. the little dude didn't seem to mind.
if you follow me on twitter, you saw that i guess i committed to blogging the bach this season. i'm going to do my best to post on tuesday mornings, but i'm a little delayed this week. i'm teaming up with kimberly, and we'll be posting on saturday this week. sorry for the delay, but this whole rejoining reality is sucking the life out of me.
are you sick of reading about what i've been wearing this month yet?!? ok good because there are a couple more posts to go. if you make it to the end of this post, there's a fun little surprise at the end.
although i am finally back home after all my travels, days 19-24 were mostly spent in the tropics. i did put on clothes a few more times than last week...yay for me!
day 19...another day at the pool
day 20...we took the ferry to st john and i was once again in my swim suit all day
day 21...i actually put on real clothes (gap melon stripe and black maxi..remember when it was a dress a couple weeks ago?!?) and makeup. ignore my hair. it hates humidity
day 22... i took this picture in the morning not really sure if i would end up putting on clothes, but i actually did. i decided to post it anyway since i spent the majority of the day at the pool.
and then we decided to go to a nicer restaurant for dinner so we actually got ready again. denim pencil, teal tank. again my hair is a disast. i should have brought better products, but you can't pack everything.
day 23...another travel day. i was sick of my hair hence the messy top knot. target stripe v, big star jeans rolled to capris
day 24...back in the states. i almost forgot what my hair looks like straight. this might be one of my favorite outfits of the whole thing. blue stripe old navy, white banana shorts
karlee wanted in on the action. please note the hip pop. this girl loves pictures.
we went mini golfing so i took a few more pictures. since this was my favorite outfit i'm posting more pics:)
i told you there would be a surprise at the end. with this 30x30 challenge coming to an end this week, i've teamed up with these lovely ladies to bring you a giveaway. most of us stopped shopping for the month so we thought it would be fun to give you a giftcard to do a little shopping for yourself. you can select from gap, loft, target, old navy, or forever 21. enter with rafflecopter below. good luck!
