churchy...from the kitchen window

a couple of months ago aubry from hello maypole posted this picture on instagram. i've been thinking about it ever since.
i have been thinking about the picture, but more than the picture i've been thinking about what she said about it.
looking out the kitchen window she reflected on her time spent blogging. sometimes the internet makes our lives look perfect. we post the fun exciting often seemingly perfect parts of our lives. we present our best selves-not because we want to be fake or trick people but because that's the fun stuff to share. we don't always share the sadness, the complication, the heartache, and the tears. while i try to be real and give you a little glimpse into those parts of my life, there's no way to know everything about people and what they have going on in their lives.
part of being a follower of Christ is giving people the benefit of the doubt realizing we don't always know the whole story. it is very easy for me to love people, but i struggle with giving that benefit of the doubt, with treating everyone with kindness. for me, this post from aubry on instagram is "another reminder to be gentle with one another, 'for everyone we meet is fighting a hard battle".
as i reflect on this post, i hope i can treat everyone with a little more gentleness, a little more kindness.

  1. It's so true. I try to look at everyone as a child of God. Also, I try to understand that whatever choices they make are usually a product of things that have happened in their life--especially for those who have wronged me. It makes forgiving easier. :)
