celebrating july 4

i spent the 4th of july in california with chelsea and her family. holidays are always more fun with kids.
we started the day with a small parade in their community. the kids loved it.
we went to the park in the afternoon. the kids played in the splash pad and went down the blow up slides. karlee especially had no fear.
it was blazing hot so the kids were happy to be wet. they live in a residential only area. people tend to really support the community events.
we had a barbecue with the family. i always want to do traditional things even when it's just our little family. we kept the food really simple-turkey burgers/hot dogs, corn on the cob, watermelon, and pasta salad.
my mom sent poppers so the kids did those after dinner. i should have taken a video because the boys, especially kyler, were hilarious.
we weren't exactly sure where to watch fireworks so we parked in jeff's office and watched from there. it was a little far away, but that was perfect for the kids.
we saw quite a few fireworks and easily left when it was over. the kids fell right into bed when we go home-a sign of a successful day.

how was your 4th? did you do anything exciting?

  1. Little ones makes the holidays even more exciting and worth documenting! I'm glad you got to spend it with folks you love and cherish.
