some thoughts on twitter

Hi Dreaming About Someday readers!  I'm Kimberly and I blog at Olive the Things.  If you don't know me just  a little, maybe you're new to Aubrey's blog :)  We met last May doing the 30x30 challenge, and since we both live in Salt Lake, we've met in real life more times than I can remember now!  Since 30x30 we've partnered to blog the Bachelor and Bachelorette, we created a monthly link up called "What would you do?" and we've started a link up with some other blog friends called "Five Little Confessions."  So yeah!  Lot's of chances for us to share with each other's readers.

While Aubrey and I "met" through the 30x30 challenge, our first communication was over twitter.  I love twitter!  Do you?  I'll admit that when I first heard of the idea I thought it would be just like facebook, but ONLY status updates.  I guess that's true, but I thought it was lame then and I think it's awesome now!  I've heard it described like a way to text your bloggy friends all day long.  So true.

A few weeks ago our mutual friend Meredith shared this book on her instagram.  She has great taste in clothes, so I'm not surprised she has great taste in books.  Because of this book, I figured out how to put a book on hold at my local library and have it waiting for you to pick up when you arrive!  So awesome, I highly recommend it.

So a couple of quick thoughts about why I loved this book:
-Biz talks about how he lands his job with Blogger/Google by accidentally assuming he already had the job.   Confidence isn't always my strength.  A loooong time ago I wrote a post about feeling like a fake.  I felt like a fake of things I really did do!  He felt legit about a job he didn't even have.  Working on it.
-Do you want to be the King of Podcasting?  He talks about working in podcasting and how it could have been really successful.  But he didn't love it.  He didn't want to be the king of podcasting.  Be the best you can, but make sure it's something you're passionate about.
-Constraint.  It's the key to a witty joke and it's the key to a good tweet.  Also, the key to my creativity.  Lack of funds fuels my DIY projects and my fashion combinations.  That chapter just resonated with me SO MUCH.
-And then he talks about all the good that twitter can do in the world and it makes me want to be a better person and work more towards a cause.  I like to use twitter to relate to people and make jokes, but there's so much potential there.  Do good things.

And now you should go check it out too!  It's awesome, but you don't have to take my word for it. . .

mega thanks to kimberly for taking over the blog while i attempt to help my sister and fam get settled in their new town. i love twitter! i can't wait to check out the book.
