One Little Word-December 2018

In 2018 I want to fill my life with things and people I LOVE and let things go that I do not love. I want to show more LOVE to others and accept more LOVE. I want my life to be full of LOVE.

My word of the year and goals like most years have shifted a bit as the year goes on. I really wanted November to be the month to recommit myself to my goals and get back to where the year started. I tried. I really tried.

YEARLY GOALS
*attend temple 12 times-
*send birthday and other cards monthly✔
*nightly gratitude journal-This of all months should have been the best time to focus on this. I started out well and slowly dropped off.
*love my body by continuing health and fitness goals-I have been more focused in November and want to do so again this month.
*monthly savings/budget goal to be more accountable for my spending and save more-it's time to get back to this

NOVEMBER GOALS
*clean up my nutrition-clean eating-better but could still improve
*increase intensity of workouts
*put phone down by 10:30 (I did a 10 day social media cleanse last month. I missed sharing my life with friends and family and keeping up with friends and family, but I did not miss the aimless scrolling or time I spend on social media when I should be sleeping. I still really love social media, but I need to prioritize sleep.)-I did not stick to this goal at all

DECEMBER GOALS
*fully engage in CSATT challenge
*finish everything for Christmas as soon as possible
*treats at social events/parties only
*catch up on blog over holiday break

I want to end the year strong!

one little word-January 2018

We're more than 2 weeks into 2018, and I am finally sharing my one little word and goals for the year. Being a week behind is a perfect introduction to my word for the year. 2016 taught me to focus on the things that were important and stop making excuses for those things. 2017 helped me embrace the current season of my life and acknowledge that I had to make a time and place for my highest priorities and let some things fall to the back burner. As I thought about my word for 2018, it just came to me one day a few months ago.
In 2018 I want to fill my life with things and people I LOVE and let things go that I do not love. I want to show more LOVE to others and accept more LOVE. I want my life to be full of LOVE.

YEARLY GOALS
*attend temple 12 times
*send birthday and other cards monthly
*nightly gratitude journal
*love my body by continuing health and fitness goals
*monthly savings/budget goal to be more accountable for my spending and save more

JANUARY GOALS
*#nojunkjanuary-after eating any and everything I wanted during the holidays, it is time to clean things up
*2 workouts 3x/week-gym and pure barre
*read Loving What Is 5 minutes before bed
*off phone by 10:30
*fun money in cash each paycheck

2017 one little word recap-EMBRACE

We're 2 full weeks into 2018, and I'm still playing catch up with 2017. The year started kind of as a blur, and looking back the whole year really was a blur. I tried to make time for the things that were most important and let many other things go. It is difficult to accept that not everything can be a top priority, but it is a lesson I have finally (for the most part) learned. my overall goal and theme for the year was EMBRACE which helped me enjoy this season of my life and the priorities at this time.

via she's just smitten

YEARLY GOALS
*nightly gratitude journal-better-sometimes i was really good and sometimes i wasn't. i plan to continue this goal into 2018
*do something that scares me/pushes me out of my comfort zone-✓
*attend temple 12 times-i barely made my goal of 12 times. i took advantage of an afternoon cancellation to go to the draper temple one afternoon
*monthly journal-same as nightly gratitude journal. sometimes i was good and sometimes i was not.
*csatt/fitness goals-csatt challenges were not on a consistent schedule and i let excuses get in the way at times. i got more focused the end of the year,

DECEMBER GOALS
*finish all Christmas(cards, gifts, mail, etc. by Dec 15)-for the most part i was done
*read daily Christmas scriptures-✓. i loved doing this and want to remember to do it again this year
*100 daily abs✓ish-i started out doing really well and dropped off once i left town
*gluten free for 21 days to support a friend recently diagnosed with celiac-✓-eating gluten free isn't as bad as it sounds although knowing i was only doing it for 3 weeks made it not so bad. i got used to reading all the labels which helped me be more accountable with my food
*follow #lighttheworld campaign✓-i wish i would have participated more, but i was happy for the times i was able to participate.

One Little Word-December

2018 is right around the corner. 2017 has been a good year, but in a lot of ways I feel like it has flown by without me even noticing. I’ll do a full recap on my word EMBRACE at the end of the year. As we approach the end of the year, it is something I have been thinking about a lot.

via she's just smitten

my overall goal and theme for the year is EMBRACE even though my monthly goals don't always match that theme.

YEARLY GOALS
*nightly gratitude journal-better-i'm still using my commit 30 planner. i am either really good or really not good. i had good intentions especially with the month of Thanksgiving, but I did not do so well
*do something that scares me/pushes me out of my comfort zone-✓
*attend temple 12 times-i visited the Meridian, ID temple open house. i need to go one more time this month.
*monthly journal-just caught up
*csatt/fitness goals-i signed up for csatt again. i really love the accountability of the group, and it's nice to have a set plan each day. so far i'm really liking it and doing well with my goals.

NOVEMBER GOALS
I am keeping things pretty simple this month.
*NO SUGAR NOVEMBER-no treats/avoid added sugar. Thanksgiving is an exception. I did really well before Thanksgiving and things haven't been great since.
*50 burpees daily (except Sunday)-I ended up deciding to do Monday-Friday with running on Saturdays. I did the burpees everyday except one when I totally forgot.

DECEMBER GOALS
*finish all Christmas(cards, gifts, mail, etc. by Dec 15)
*read daily Christmas scriptures
*100 daily abs
*gluten free for 21 days to support a friend recently diagnosed with celiac

one little word-November

we're getting so close to the end of the year. it's kind of time to start thinking about a word for 2018.

via she's just smitten

my overall goal and theme for the year is EMBRACE even though my monthly goals don't always match that theme.

YEARLY GOALS
*nightly gratitude journal-better-i'm still using my commit 30 planner. i am either really good or really not good. i want to be really good especially in this month of gratitude.
*do something that scares me/pushes me out of my comfort zone-✓
*attend temple 12 times-i need to go a couple of more times this year to meet this goal
*monthly journal-pretty well caught up
*csatt/fitness goals-i did not participate in the csatt challenge but instead started the fall challenge from last year. i did about 80 percent of it.

OCTOBER GOALS
*Pure Barre 20 in 31 challenge (20 classes in 31 days)-with weekend obligations and travel i started the challenge knowing i likely would not be able to get 20 classes. i did 17, and i was happy with that.
*SLEEP-11:00 or earlier bedtime-very hit and miss
*schedule one free night each week-I honestly kind of forgot about this goal. I had some very busy weeks.

I have gotten in the habit of overscheduling myself. I want to focus on slowing down a little this month and getting a grip on life again.-I didn't focus on this as well as I wanted to.

NOVEMBER GOALS
I am keeping things pretty simple this month.
*NO SUGAR NOVEMBER-no treats/avoid added sugar. Thanksgiving is an exception
*50 burpees daily (except Sunday)

How are your goals going?

One little word-August

I know I say this all the time, but how is it already August? I have slowed down on some things this year and shifted my focus elsewhere which makes it feel like time should be moving slower. Time continues to fly and fly and fly. I probably should just accept the fact that time will continue to go at rapid speed.

via she's just smitten

my overall goal and theme for the year is EMBRACE even though my monthly goals don't always match that theme.

YEARLY GOALS
*nightly gratitude journal-better-i switched to using my commit 30 planner and it's working well
*do something that scares me/pushes me out of my comfort zone ✔
*attend temple 12 times-my temple experience for june was outside the temple. i need to make sure to make it in for ordinances this month-july ended up outside the temple too so in august i really really need to make sure to do ordinances
*monthly journal-i made a list of things to catch up on, but i still need to catch up
*csatt/fitness goals-✔

JULY GOALS
i really loved my june goals a lot. i am basically sticking with the same things
*continue June soda rules (no purchased soda with meals during the week unless it is a combo or the only one of the day)-i did not do well at all. insert excuses, but mostly i wanted ice lots and lots of ice.
*handlettering 2-3x/week-i don't even know if i did 2-3x all month. i don't even know what happened in july
*eat prepped food-much much better
*SLEEP-some improvement
*blog catch up-i have 2 posts i've been putting off. i really really want to get them done, but they are going to be hard to do.

AUGUST GOALS
i plan to continue most of my goals from july and also focus on a few other things.
*spending/shopping freeze-i obviously can't completely freeze spending, but i'm freezing all unnecessary spending. after a few days, it's good for me to pay better attention to how i spend my money.
*SLEEP-11:00 bedtime or earlier. there is always an excuse to stay up late, but i want to make it a priority this month and hopefully continue
*meditate/de-stress-work has been getting to me lately. i have made a lot of progress with managing stress in most areas of my life, but i have a hard time using those strategies with work. i want to find an app to use for some simple meditation.
*the kissmybrave girls started our own fitness challenge this month. we are all doing our own thing for workouts, but the main idea is supporting each other and being more accountable to each other to stick to our goals. after a few days, everyone is doing so well. and i'm so excited.

this year has been really great. i am happy with how things have been, and i am looking forward to the rest of the year. how is your year going?

one little word-january

Happy New Year! 2017 is here and i am very excited for a new year full of possibility. i am back for another year of the one little word linkup. checking in monthly helps me stay accountable to my goals throughout the whole year. we hope you will join us throughout the year.
i've been thinking about my word for 2017 for a few months. 2016 was a great year full of a lot of unexpected yet beautiful growth and change for me. looking into 2017 i'm excited to see where this year takes me.

i am much more of a feeler than a thinker. several months ago while getting ready for work one morning, the word EMBRACE came to me, and i knew it would be my word for the year. i thought about other words, but any time i tried to think of other options, EMBRACE was strong in my mind.

one little word: april goals

i sound like a broken record. this year is flying by. i kind of blamed february being a short month, but march is definitely not a short month. excuses or no excuses april is here. it's time to check in on our monthly goals.

now that we're a few months into the year, i think a lot of us start to lose focus on our goals. for me that is one of the best reasons to check in monthly and continue to set new monthly goals. my big focus for the year is being still, but so far i am also really focused on health and fitness.

yearly goals to be still
1. morning and night quiet time-drive to the gym with no music/spend a few minutes each night reflecting on the day and writing 3 good things about the day-i do really well in the morning. i drive to the gym and sometimes home in the quiet. i love starting out the morning with a really clear head.
2. attend the temple monthly-i went to the payson temple
3. color once a week-i've been a little hit and miss with this one. i really like to color, but my coloring book is so small and detailed. i finally realized even though i really like it, the small coloring book kind of stresses me out. it's a little too detailed for me. i think i would rather just color a princess.
4. prayer book-keep list of people i need to remember to pray for-i keep the book beside my bed. i use it some of the time. i could do better with this.

march goals
1. drink apple cider vinegar every morning-i am doing much better with this than i have any other month. when i am home i have been really good about doing it. i have to only drink a shot of it and bite a lime right after. biting the lime is the best trick i have ever heard.
2. do more cardio 2-3x/week-i'm getting through my workouts a little faster and earlier some days so i do have a little more time for cardio.

april goals
1. try one new workout class-either yoga or pure barre
2. select weekly ponderize scripture again-for a long while i selected a scripture each week to focus on. i haven't been doing as well with it lately.
3. send 3 cards in the mail-i love sending mail. i've haven't done much of it this year.

one little word: february goal update

i have my one little word of the year (STILL) and yearly goals to go along with it. i also have monthly goals. one of the best ways to accomplish those goals is to have to report back. join us (love ashleymy new lines, and one hoolie mama) today and every first week of the month to check in on our goals and yours.

yearly goals to be still
1. morning and night quiet time-drive to the gym with no music/spend a few minutes each night reflecting on the day and writing 3 good things about the day i've done really well with this. i need to extend my quiet time at night a little
2. attend the temple monthly i went to the provo city center temple open house in january
3. color once a week-i might not keep this up all year, but i got a coloring book a couple of months ago. i haven't used it, and i know i will love it and feel very relaxed-i have done this, but i need to work on it more. i spend about 5 minutes once a week which is better than nothing but not a lot.
4. prayer book-keep list of people i need to remember to pray for-i got out my prayer journal again and put it beside my bed. it's helpful to have that to remember those that need extra prayers.

january goals
1. wake up at 5:00am to go to the gym-i didn't always wake up at 5:00, but i almost always did or at least in the 5:00 hour. my workouts have really improved this month.
2. clean up my diet-check. i am doing so much better with this
3. no treats for 60 days-i have a lot of willpower when i want to. i haven't even been tempted to eat treats. i decided to go with the 30 days of the 30 day challenge i did. for the next 30 days, i can have one treat a week.

i have a lot of goals for my health and fitness this year so i am going to stick with my same january goals for feburary. i am joining another 30 days challenge to help keep me on track and motivated with those goals. i am really focused on taking care of my body and getting it in the best shape i can so for now, that is where i put my efforts.

one little word for 2016

for the past few years i have picked one word to guide my year. i've picked words like fun, balance, and last year focus. some years i have had a lot of success with my word, and others years...well, not so much. with the beginning of a new year, i am excited to think about the year ahead, and what my life needs. this year i'm joining a few friends (love ashley, my new lines, and one hoolie mama) for a monthly linkup.
i've been thinking about my word for 2016 for the past few months. my life hit an all time crazy in october, and i talked about not having time for anything important. it really made me think. i have been filling my life so full of good things, but those good things are getting in the way of the best things. this year i want to make more time for the very best things.

my word for 2016 is STILL

i want to take more time to be still. i'll be back later in the week to talk more about my goals, and how i plan to take more time to be still.

did you pick one little word (or a few words) for 2016? grab the button below and linkup. hop around and see what other people picked for their word. come back the first monday of each month to update us on your one little word

2015 goal update...FOCUS on...finances

if halloween wouldn't have been this weekend, i would have no idea october is over. it was 70 degrees on saturday and pretty warm yesterday. i'm definitely not complaining, but it is very weird for utah. christmas is going to sneak up on me if things keep going this way.
it might not feel like it, but it does look like fall here.

warm weather of not, the month really did end. here's my goal update.
OCTOBER was FOCUS on finances
1. write down all money spent starting today (i should have started oct 1, but i didn't)-i did pretty well. i forgot a few times, but overall i did ok. it helped me be a little more accountable for my money.
2. pay for all drinks (soda) in cash ($30 cash budget for drinks for the month. i did this in the past and have gotten out of the habit.)-check
3. save a little each week in cash (per the challenge from elder durrant in lds general conference to save a little each week and also ponderize-focus on a verse of scripture-yes and no. i forgot to do it each week, but i did get the amount this weekend and save it

NOVEMBER is FOCUS on why
after talking with some friends a couple of weeks ago, i decided i really need to stop and think about the why for a lot of things in my life.
1. spend 5 minutes each day being still/pondering
2. record 3 good things about my day in my journal each night (i have done this in the past and really liked it)
3. create mission statement for my blog

the year is coming to a rapid end. how are your goals going?

2015 goal update...FOCUS on...health

the weather has been really warm here still so i'm in total denial that summer is 100% over, and we're getting close to winter. i'm also in major denial that the year is almost over.

SEPTEMBER was FOCUS on health
1. lift weights 2x/week-i missed a couple of days, but i did pretty well. i lift on tues/thurs.
2. run 1x/week besides saturday long runs-wednesday is sprint on the treadmill day
3. continue 21 day reset maintenance (food prep, 1 cheat day/week, whole grains, fruits/vegetables)-i started out great and went downhill. i need to recommit to this one
although my overall goal is being healthy, i definitely hope to lose some pounds. my reward for meeting this goal is going to be paying myself cash for each goal i accomplish each week.i didn't stick with my reward system at all. even though it wasn't an official goal, i tried to work on sleeping a little more. sometimes that means i don't make it to the gym, but i know sleep is also an important part of health.

OCTOBER is FOCUS on finances
lately i feel like i have been spending a lot of money on who knows what. i need to keep better track of where my money is going.
1. write down all money spent starting today (i should have started oct 1, but i didn't)
2. pay for all drinks (soda) in cash ($30 cash budget for drinks for the month. i did this in the past and have gotten out of the habit.)
3. save a little each week in cash (per the challenge from elder durrant in lds general conference to save a little each week and also ponderize-focus on a verse of scripture.

did you pick a word for 2015? how are your goals going?

2015 goal update...FOCUS on...slumber soiree

AUGUST was FOCUS on slumber soiree
i hosted a super fun blogger sleepover last fall, and i plan to do it again this year. before august i started a few things, but there was still a lot of work to be done.
1. secure venue (in the works)-check
2. solidify date (also in the works)-check and then i changed the date
3. open registration-check and then closed it due to date change
4. contact sponsors-half check. i got some responses and need to follow up with others
i picked the date, started intense planning, and opened ticket sales. it turns out it was a really bad weekend for a lot of people so i am moving the date and completely changing the format.
last year i provided all the meals, drinks, and snacks. i am pretty good at doing things on a small budget, but it costs a lot to provide all those things. here is my question...
WOULD YOU RATHER..
a. pay more and have everything provided
b. pay less and help bring food
even if you're not local/able to attend, i would love your opinion.

SEPTEMBER is FOCUS on health
the 21 day reset last month was a really good start for me. i like to be healthy, and i consider myself a healthy person. the truth is i have gotten into some really lazy habits over the past couple of years, and i need to stop making excuses.
1. lift weights 2x/week
2. run 1x/week besides saturday long runs
3. continue 21 day reset maintenance (food prep, 1 cheat day/week, whole grains, fruits/vegetables)
although my overall goal is being healthy, i definitely hope to lose some pounds. my reward for meeting this goal is going to be paying myself cash for each goal i accomplish each week.

how are your goals going? i can't believe we're getting closer to the end of the year.
